excellence n. the state or quality of excelling to a point of superiority
or being good at something to a high degree.
Varsity College now offers basketball as a subject for students in Years 10, 11 and 12. It is a vocational learning subject in
the recreation stream and will be run over a two year period, providing students with four credits toward their Queensland
Certificate of Education.
The program comprises both theoretical and practical elements, though the emphasis will be on active participation in
basketball as specificed by Queensland Studies Authority. Varsity College boasts a high class indoor basketball facility and
all equipment necessary to assist success.
The program is headed by Mr Adam Darragh. Adam has played for three National Basketball League teams, including the
Brisbane Bullets during an illustrious career as a professional basketballer and brings with him a wealth of experience and
knowledge. In addition, Adam has a number of contacts in the wider basketball community assisting in coaching and
participation in elite competitions. Further assistance is provided by players and staff from the Gold Coast’s very own NBL
team, Gold Coast Blaze.
