Dear Professor Stang,
I am hereby submitting the manuscript of the article "A Comprehensive SelfConsistent Spectrophotometric Acidity Scale of Neutral Brønsted Acids in
Acetonitrile" by Agnes Kütt, Ivo Leito, Ivari Kaljurand, Lilli Sooväli, Vladislav M.
Vlasov, Lev M. Yagupolskii and Ilmar A. Koppel for your consideration for publishing
in the Journal of the American Chemical Society.
In this work a comprehensive self-consistent spectrophotometric acidity scale
containing 93 neutral Brønsted acids in acetonitrile spanning 24 orders of magnitude
of acidities is reported and herewith the whole domain of conventional acidities in
acetonitrile is covered. The scale includes representatives from all the conventional
families of OH acids, NH acids and CH acids. The scale creates a reliable and
consistent basis for further acid-base studies in acetonitrile.
All authors have seen and approved the submission of the manuscript. There is
no related work submitted or in press. The manuscript has been submitted exclusively
to JACS.
We prefer web galley proofs.
Please consider Prof. Louis S. Hegedus as the editor handling the manuscript.
