CLINICAL CRITICAL THINKING SEMINAR (CCTS): PEDIATRIC NURSING CARE
This is an individual project that involves analyzing patient assessment data to identify and describe
the nursing care needs of a pediatric patient. The CCTS will take place on Wednesday the final week
of clinical (5/9). Each OB/Peds clinical group will be provided with an electronic medical record of a
fictitious pediatric patient. Students will evaluate and synthesize the patient data to develop a thorough
understanding of the patient’s and family’s nursing care needs before meeting with their group in
advance of the seminar to develop a priority nursing care plan. On the day of the seminar, groups will
submit copies of the care plan they collaboratively created to each of the evaluating clinical faculty.
The oral component of the seminar requires each student to individually answer questions about the
patient posed by the faculty. Detailed guidelines and patient medical records will be posted on the
202A website two weeks prior to the seminar date.

NRAD 202A Course Grade Calculator
Course assignments are weighted according to different percentages. To calculate your grade,
use the following table. Each score or set of scores is divided by the total number of points
possible and multiplied by the percentage of your final grade it represents. Then, these
percentages are added together for the final course grade. Carry your results out to 2 decimal
places and do not round up until all percentages have been added together.
