September 2015
Psalm 100 (A celebratory psalm much loved by the Malawians)
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his
people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all
generations.

difference. This will be available from midOctober. If you would like a copy of the DVD
or a package for a local coffee morning - if you
cannot get to the Strachur celebration please contact us at the usual address.
Just for fun, we are also producing a small
book of 100 light-hearted stories of odd
experiences in Africa. A must read….
Containers
100 containers and counting celebration
There is much for which to give thanks. Over
the years so much has been collected by
people, groups and congregations from all
over Scotland and elsewhere for the people of
Malawi. It has been an amazing story and
there are many stories that we, as trustees,
know nothing about. So as to give thanks, a
celebration is being organized for;



Saturday 28th November
in Strachur Hall
from 2.30 till 4.30pm
Everyone is welcome. This is an opportunity
to give thanks to God, hear of the
effectiveness of this ministry and to meet
other people involved.
A DVD with notes is being produced on
‘changed lives’ showing how, over the years,
the Raven Trust’s unique ministry has made a
FCL98 left Dundee on 6th June full of much
needed goods. It should arrive at the
beginning of September when John Challis will
be able to oversee the distribution of the
contents. FCL99 left Strachur on the 12th
August and is expected to arrive in Ekwendeni
mid-November.
Quick update
This year many people have visited Malawi
with the Raven Trust.

Alan Laverock has been able to
establish a computer based accounts
package in the mission hospitals and
other institutions of the Synod of
Livingstonia and elsewhere. He has
recently organised a Raven Trust
funded conference bringing together
accountants and finance officers. All
very positive.

The wells renovation pilot project
continues
John Littlejohn made a return visit and
re-tested certain wells following the
rains to see the effect of rains on
water quality. The results can be
found online on the Raven Trust website
In September Smileawi, a team of
dentists and technicians, is visiting
again. This time they will have 4
mobile
dental
units.
People,
particularly in rural areas, have no
access to dental facilities which are a
low priority for the government.
Prayer points
Completion of projects. Everything that is
undertaken is a joy to be involved with and has
its own challenges.
Containers Give thanks for those making practical
items and sourcing goods for the people of Malawi.
Praise God for dry days to load both containers and
for the many volunteers who assist with the
numbering and loading.
Distribution of goods from containers - that the
new team of supervisors in Malawi will have a
great vision for the work and the expertise to
undertake this responsible task
Changed lives – give thanks for the joy of being
able to work together and see lives changed for
the better both in the UK and overseas.
Safety of personnel – both in the UK and in
Malawi, spiritually, physically and mentally. It is
easy to become desensitised and tired

John Challis is working on the bridge
at Zenda which will provide an allweather crossing from the village to
the main road for schools, medical
services and markets. The concrete
decking is to be laid soon. Work will
start on the footbridge at Shonga. It
is good to have professional advice on
the construction of both projects.
Met by chance at a well – this lady
with her children who are wearing
little sweaters knitted with love by
supporters in the UK, transported by
the Raven Trust and, no doubt,
distributed by a local clinic.
