Dear Customers,
We have had a busy first semester at BERNINA of OKC. It looks like there will
be plenty to keep you coming back for some Creative Fun with your favorite BERNINA this summer.
May is our Anniversary Month. I still remember packing everything I owned
from my dorm room at OU into the back of my VW Bug and going to Edmond, to
help my Dad open the “new” location at NW 50th and Portland in Oklahoma City.
He said if I didn't like it, I could go back to school in a year. Here we are! It's Our
43rd Anniversary with BERNINA and I am still here. How lucky can we be?
Look inside for information on two exciting events! Sewapalooza will happen
in May, and Claudia, from Claudia's Creations, will be here in July! Emily and
Christy have been working hard to put these two events together for us, and we
can hardly wait for them to start. You'll want to come!
Soon we will be in training on the new 16 needle commercial embroidery machine from BERNINA, the E16. By the end of June, we hope to have it in the store
and you'll want to see how it makes fast work of high volume embroidery!
Phil Newton, formerly of OESD, was in the store just the other day. He is now
working with Mettler Thread. He was showing us the fantastic new groupings of
thread that Mettler will be releasing at Market. We are very excited to get these
new threads into the store.
I'll end this note by thanking you all for your business for all these years. My
dad, Boyd Ramsey, always said it was his customers that made the business enjoyable for him, and that is especially true for me.

Claudia B. Dinnell is a native of Phoenix, Arizona. Her love of quilting began with the best birthday present ever, a
Bernina 830 sewing machine in 1979! Appliqué was her first love, hand quilting, piecing,
and machine quilting all followed.
Claudia is an outstanding Bernina Designer Plus educator. She has been developing
her distinctive software classes for over 12 years. Mastery of this software is one of her
unique specialties. Her award winning quilt Stars in the Garden won 1st Place for creative digitizing, embroidery and color.
She enjoys seeing her students become proficient with the Designer Plus Software and
beginning their own designing processes, enabling them to express their creativity
through this exciting medium.
Claudia is the founder of Claudia’s Creations. Her patterns can be purchased through
local quilt shops. She continues today to digitize her own designs, motivate her students
to create their own works of art and enjoys teaching embroidery, quilting and digitizing
workshops throughout the United States.

Teacher Profile:
Christy Burcham, Sales and Instruction
Christy comes by her love of sewing naturally—her mother ran a small custom sewing
business and Christy often sat near her mother’s side as she sewed for hours on end.
(Kay Hickman, Christy’s mom, is now a national educator for Bernina of America.)
Christy started sewing her own projects at sixteen, when she started working as a
cashier at Bernina of Oklahoma City South. Inspired by her coworkers, Christy began
experimenting with free-motion embroidery, silk ribbon embroidery by machine, and
other embellishment techniques. When the Deco was introduced and later the Deco
wizard software, she fell in love with machine embroidery.
This passion for machine embroidery turned into a career when she went to work for Oklahoma Embroidery Supply and
Design. Christy worked in education and product development for over ten years at OESD, traveling throughout the
United States and internationally to teach and train embroidery and software techniques.
Christy re-joined the staff of BERNINA of Oklahoma City in March of 2014. She loves to assist customers in finding the
perfect tools for their projects, and she enjoys sharing ideas and techniques that give students the confidence to use
their creativity for projects they love.
In addition to working and teaching at BERNINA of Oklahoma City, Christy blogs at scissortailstudio.com, writes for Designs in Machine Embroidery magazine, and freelances for sewing industry companies.
