The BUSINESS EXPO is 20 years old! In observance and celebration of this special anniversary, the sponsors have committed to make this the biggest and best EXPO ever. We hope everyone will join us for EXPO as a vendor and/or attendee on Tuesday, October 12th, from 2:00 until 7:00 pm. Please notice that the hours have change to better accommodate the business community. The EXPO is organized to assist in promoting area businesses. This is a great, affordable venue for showcasing companies’ products and services. Participants come face-to-face with area business leaders and customers from across the region. And, some attendees become customers of EXPO vendors long after the EXPO has past. Our office receives numerous calls for contact information on a vendor someone met at the EXPO. The special anniversary rates ($185.00 Chamber members, $300.00 non-Chamber members) include exhibit space, an 8-foot skirted table, two chairs and signage. It is not too late to register to participate. Contact our Chamber for that information. And, plan to attend for there is an opportunity to win prizes totaling $1,000.00. Just pick up a ticket form from one of the Chamber’s offices or register upon entering Vance Granville Community College’s Civic Center. As always, sponsors are key to a successful event. Phoebe and the staff at Lee Nails are excited about their newly remodeled studio and encourage visiting them for that special occasion touch or to become a “regular” customer. Contact them at 919.603.0544 or leenails.oxford@ gmail.com. WE MADE A MISTAKE! The Chamber is so appreciative of the support and participation we receive from members. That is why it is so embarrassing when we inadvertently omit someone important. And, we did in last month’s Brightleaf when we recognized gift bag contributors for our New Teacher Breakfast. Creedmoor Wellness Center and Gentle Touch Reflexology gave gift items, but were not included in the list. We appreciate their contributions and regret the error. Brightleaf October 2010 ~ KUDOS~ Granville Health System makes us proud — again! In August, members of Granville Health System’s Senior Leadership and Director teams presented an educational program at the 38th Annual Meeting and Exposition of the American Healthcare Radiology Administrators. This national event was held in Washington, DC. “More than 1,000 imaging leaders attended the educational event for radiology administrators. The national conference offered sessions addressing a wide range of management issues including: finance, human resources, communication and information, operations and assets. The GHS presentation team included Sharon Buchanan, Director of Imaging; Maria Calloway, GHS Chief Nursing Officer; and L. Lee Isley, GHS Chief Executive Officer. The group presented “Breaking Down the Silos: Driving Quality Care through Positive Change.” The session documented the success GHS’s imaging department has achieved in recent years through new leadership and an improved work culture, while refining the delivery of quality outpatient and inpatient care. The session explained the benefits of technological advancement made by Granville Health System and the high level of care achieved through increased communication and a strong commitment to customer service.” CONGRATULATIONS! Curves of Butner-Creedmoor is supporting the American Cancer Society by participating in one of its signature fund raising events — “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.” This is the third year that Curves of Butner-Creedmoor has fielded a team for the event. Last year, the club raised $1,000 with a team of 10 walkers. They are doubling their goal this year. Their event will “take place at their location on October 23rd from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. Curves owner Tabitha Duke encourages anyone interested in participating to contact manager Tamara Webb about the exciting events that are planned for that day — 528.1414. They also will be walking Oct. 2nd at an event at North Hills Mall, so there are plenty of opportunities to join their team. Best of luck on this very worthy effort! Union Bank for their idea and sponsorship of a high school student from each of Granville County’s three high schools for the Leadership Granville program.
