Center for the Promotion of Research Involving Innovative Statistical Methodology (PRIISM) Applied Statistician: Asst./Assoc. Prof., tenure‐track The Steinhardt School Department of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Center for the Promotion of Research Involving Innovative Statistical Methodology (PRIISM) seek an applied statistician for a tenure‐track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. The appointment begins September 1, 2014. Applicants should have a keen interest in both developing/evaluating new methods and applying methods in collaborative work with faculty and graduate students in areas represented by the PRIISM Center and departments in the School, as well as with faculty and graduate students in other parts of the University whose interests intersect with those at Steinhardt (http://steinhardt.nyu.edu). Among other methodological specialty areas, applicants should have particular expertise in survey methodology and at least one of the following: (1) program evaluation (2) causal inference (experimental, non‐experimental), (3) Bayesian analysis, or (4) measurement systems analysis. The successful candidate should have strong communication skills as a classroom teacher and as a presenter of research findings to others who are not as well‐versed in his/her field of research. Preference will be given to candidates who also have a proven track record of obtaining external funding for research or training. Responsibilities: Teach and advise students at all levels of the department's curriculum ‐ undergraduate and graduate, particularly the master's program in Applied Statistics for Social Science Research; supervise student research, develop an active program of research and publication, and participate in faculty meetings, committees, and other service appropriate to a university faculty member is expected. Qualifications: A doctoral degree and the demonstrated ability to develop a nationally recognized research program.
