Many project teams reach the release stage and suddenly discover they
are not prepared for this phase of the project. Many details are left
uncovered, and the project stalls while infrastructure is prepared or
mistakes are made during the release process. To avoid this problem,
you will now prepare for the release of your application with a welldefined release plan.

Assignment Guidelines:
Prepare a release and maintenance plan including the
following:
A cover page with a title, the course number and
name, your name, and the date.
A table of contents.
An introduction with an overview of the document
contents.
A summary of the build and release process for the
final release of the application including the location
of the final build release package (staging) and live
release (production).
A summary of the release verification and signoff
procedure.
A review of the maintenance plan and any other
postrelease activities such as system reviews and
initial monitoring.
A risk assessment for release and postrelease phases.
The release summary should be at least 2 pages in
length.
In addition the the application release summary, you should
also prepare a final summary that reflects on each stage of the
project.
The final summary should be at least 4 pages in
length.
Sections covering each of the phase activities and
results.
A final summary describing the overall results and
conclusions for the project during this session (This

Many projects are considered complete when the application is released
to the end users. However, this may not always be correct. Research
post-project activities and then answer the questions listed below in the
Assignment Guidelines. You may use your textbook, course materials,
and Web resources for this assignment.
Discussion Board Assignment Guidelines:
Research post-project activities.
Answer the following questions:
Should the release milestone be considered the end
of the project? Why or why not? What additional activities might be appended to the
project after release, and why is it important to
include these activities?
Post and discuss at least 2 post-project activities.
Post a new topic to the Discussion Board that contains your
answers to the two questions above and your discussion with
regard to two different post-project activities.
Respond to two other students' posts on the discussion board
and evaluate their answers.
Your submitted assignment (60 points) should include the following:
1. 40 Points Your Discussion Board topic containing your responses
to the two questions in the Assignment Guidelines.
2. 20 Points Responses to two other students' discussion board
posts.
In your own words, please post a new topic to the discussion
board, and comment on other postings. You will be graded on the
quality of your postings.
