Ophelia’s Place activities are open to all interested girls in the community between the ages of 10-18,
Orientations are required within two weeks of registering for an ongoing club or activity.
Please call to schedule an orientation.
Activities that require advanced registration are noted as such.
FanFicreation - A Creative Fan Fiction Writing Workshop
Mondays, 1/11 - 3/14 4:00pm - 5:30pm
$5 (scholarships are available)
Girls ages 10-18
Create your own fan fiction at Fan FiCreation, a creative writing
workshop for girls! Explore character development in-depth, learn
about outlining stories, developing plot and share your works in
progress with other like-minded girls.
Advanced registration required. Register by 1/4.
Hip Hop Dance Workshop with The Dance Factory
President’s Day, Monday February 15th (no-school)
12:00pm - 2:00pm
$10-$15 sliding scale (scholarships are available)
Girls ages 10-18
Meet at Ophelia’s Place on this no-school day for an exciting dance
workshop from The Dance Factory! Learn some basic hip-hop moves
in this introductory workshop. All levels of experience are encouraged
to join!
Advanced registration is required. Register by 2/8.
Your Body, Your Sexuality
Mondays, 1/25 - 3/14 4:15pm - 5:30pm
FREE
Girls ages 14-18 (age 13 with parent permission)
This group is focused on empowering girls through understanding their
bodies and sexualities. Gain the tools and resources necessary to establish
positive relationships with yourself and others. For girls who identify as
having female anatomy. Girls that sign-up will receive a follow-up call
from the facilitator. Facilitated by OP staff and intern.
Advanced registration required. Register by 1/18.
G-TEC (Girl’s Technology Empowerment and Confidence)
Tuesdays, 1/12 - 3/15
4:00pm - 6:00pm
$10-$20 sliding scale for 10 weeks (scholarships are available)
Girls ages 10-18
G-TEC is back for its second session! Come to OP and learn
about computer hardware, software, web design, computer
programming and more in a hands-on club with other girls
interested in technology. No experience necessary! Facilitated by Max
Skorodinsky with support from OP interns.
Advanced registration required. Register by 1/5.
Meet the Musicians!
Feel Good Closet
MLK Day, Monday January 18th (no-school) 1:00pm - 4:00pm
FREE
Girls ages 10-18
Come to OP to pick out some new clothes and shoes and get a little
“boost” during the gloomy winter months! Many sizes
available. Join us for a fun, positive and supportive event!
Anime Club
Tuesdays, 1/12 - 3/14
4:30pm - 6:00pm
FREE
Girls ages 12-18
Meet at OP and discuss your favorite anime and manga,
practice drawing, get updates about cosplay and conventions
and learn more about Japanese culture and the art of anime!
Facilitated by OP staff and interns.
Due to overwhelming attendance, Anime Club will now
require advanced registration, with a maximum capacity of
15 girls. Girls who do not get into this session will be at the top of
the list for the next session in spring. Register by 1/7.
Tuesdays, 1/26, 2/23 & 3/15 4:00pm - 5:00pm FREE
Girls ages 10-18
Learn about yourself through music! Join OP and special guest,
Eugene’s Chamber Music Amici (ah-mee-chee), for an hour session
where expert musicians will answer all of the questions you have about
music and fulfilling your hopes and dreams! You don’t have to play an
instrument to attend. Come meet trumpet players, violinists, pianists,
cellists, and viola players once a month at OP in this special series!

Meet Georgie: The South American Coatimundi!
Thursday, January 21st

OP is excited to host a very special visitor to our space!
Georgie is a South American racoon known as a Coatimundi
(kwa-tuh-moon-dee). He was rescued by his handler, Vic, who has raised
animals and worked in zoos since he was a teen, and now works at the
Cascades Raptor center. Join Georgie, Vic and OP staff and interns for a
Q&A session about animal care, zookeeping and what it’s like to live with
an exotic animal!
We will not have Anime Club on 1/26, 2/23 or 3/15.

Women’s Advisory Council for Youth (WACY)
Wednesdays, 1/6 - 3/16 4:00pm - 5:00pm

Girls ages 12-18
WACY is a group for young women who want to develop their
leadership potential, meet other like-minded girls, and come up with
creative ways to make a difference in our community. this is s girl-led,
girl-directed group that helps advise OP. Great volunteer experience!
Facilitated by OP staff.
Grrrl Jamz
Wednesdays, 1/6 - 3/16 3:30pm - 6:00pm
FREE
Girls ages 10-18
Come to OP once a week for a jam session with our friends from
Grrrlz Rock! Try out a new instrument, practice one you know, or just
rock out with friends. Volunteers from Grrrlz Rock will be on site to help
you find your inner rock star. You will learn to play a song by the end of
the afternoon. No experience required!
Girls’ Movie Matinee
Thursdays, 1/7, 2/4, 3/3
4:00pm - 6:00pm
FREE
Girls ages 10-18
Grab the popcorn! OP will show a girl-centered movie on the first
Thursday of the month. The first movie will be Pixar’s film, “Inside Out”.
We will watch and discuss likes and dislikes after the movie and talk
about why we watch and enjoy films.
Dance Step (Taught by an OP Girl!)
Every other Thursday, starts 1/14 ends 3/10

If you love to dance, come to OP every other Thursday to learn some
awesome dance moves, taught by another OP girl! Facilitated by OP girl
with co-facilitation and support from OP interns and staff.
Weekend Programs
G-TEC on the Weekend
Saturdays, 1/16, 2/13 & 3/12 12:00pm - 2:00pm
Saturday G-TEC meetings will build on what the club is currently
working on and will invite guests from the technology community to
present to girls. Facilitated by Max Skorodinsky. Meet at
Ophelia’s Place.
Weekend G-TEC meetings are included in the registration
fee for girls that register for the whole term. Register for G-TEC
by 1/5.
Dance Fusion
Saturdays, 1/16, 2/13 & 3/12
2:00pm - 3:00pm
$5 per session, or $10 for all three (scholarships are available)
Join former OP intern Sarah Doty for an hour of dance fusion!
Dance to the beat of high energy music and try out a creative way
to get some movement in your day. Facilitated by Sarah Doty and OP
staff and interns.
Advanced registration is required for each session.
Register by 1/8, 2/5, and 3/4.
Creative Arts Playshop
Saturdays, 2/13 & 3/12 3:00pm - 5:00pm
$5 for each session, or $8 for both (scholarships are available)
We are excited to have Lila Kids Yoga back for Creative Arts Playshop!
Come to Ophelia’s Place for an afternoon of face painting,
creative arts, acrobatics and costumes. At Creative Arts Playshop,
you will express your creativity in a fun and dynamic group setting.

Kitchen Masters
Mondays, 2/1 - 3/14
4:00pm - 5:30pm $10-$20 sliding scale (scholarships are available)
Girls ages 10-18
If you love to cook and want to learn some practical (and tasty!)
recipes to make breakfast, lunch and dinner, come to OP for this 6-week
cooking class that will teach you how to cook two breakfasts, two lunches,
and two dinners. You will learn how to make homemade mac & cheese,
omelettes, gourmet grilled-cheese sandwiches and more. Yum!
