The conference consists of panels on various topics related to the music and recording industries. This year marked MIC’s 6th year, and Creative Sound Studios’s Helena Confer and Amanda Marsteller were featured panelists on a session entitled “Audio for Video.” Some of the other nine panels included “Entertainment Law,” “It Ain’t Rock,” “Alterative Gigs,” “Concert & Event Production,” and a drum workshop given by Jeremy Hummel, co-founder and former drummer of the platinum-selling band, Breaking Benjamin. LVC offers a music business class devoted to planning MIC with assistance from the student organizations, MISA (Music Industry Students Association) and AES (Audio Engineering Society). MIC began in 2003, when LVC and Albright College decide to co-host a music industry conference. The next year LVC hosted the event and in 2006, its students made the decision to host a yearly conference. Each year attendance and panels keep expanding. A 2006 graduate of LVC, Marsteller fondly remembers organizing MIC 2004 (the first one hosted by LVC). “It makes me proud and is wonderful to see how much the conference has grown in only five years.” LVC MIC is a great opportunity for not only college students but also for high school students and people in the industry to discuss and expand their knowledge of happenings in the worlds of music business and recording.!
