Definition of the CCP Program
Chancellor Carey defines College Credit Plus as the governing
program that allows students to engage in “nonsectarian,
non-remedial educational coursework while in high school that
automatically results in transcripted high school and college
credit at the successful conclusion of that coursework.” 1
CCP provides students with the opportunity to pursue a
postsecondary education with a head start, and schools a
gateway for introducing students to potential college and career
pathways.
Purpose of the CCP Administrative Handbook
The purpose of this manual is to provide high school
administrators, counselors, and instructors with details regarding
CCP at the University of Cincinnati (UC) at the Uptown Campus.
This manual includes information pertaining to CCP students
who take courses at partnered public and private high school,
through online distance learning, or on campus. This document
also outlines administrative procedures, reporting requirements,
student registration procedures, resource references, UC policy,
and contact information.

High School Instructor Credentialing
UC Faculty Mentorship
High school instructors interested in offering his or her class for
dual credit may apply to become a UC Volunteer Adjunct Faculty.
Criteria used for credentialing are located on the following page.
All credentialing applications are reviewed by UC departmental
faculty at the home college from which the course is offered.
High school instructors who are credentialed as an UC volunteer
adjunct will be assigned a UC faculty mentor. UC faculty
members are also available to high school instructors to discuss
course and syllabus development and best practice. Mentors
and instructors are expected to engage in consultation at least
bi-weekly through in-person meetings, phone call, email, and/
or video chat. UC Faculty mentors are also required to observe at
least one section of the course being taught by the high school
instructor at least once per year.
High school instructors who wish to be credentialed for UC
Uptown, off-campus programs may forward the following
materials to the address below.
• Syllabus or course description for high school course
to be offered through CCP
• Undergraduate/graduate transcripts
• Resume
Copies of these records will be kept on file for CCP, and then
forwarded for departmental review. If denied due to syllabus
discrepancies, UC Faculty mentors can work with instructors to
either edit syllabi or search for alternate university courses that
accurately align with content topics covered at the high school.
Upon approval, instructors will fill out an online UC volunteer
adjunct faculty application online with blank documents
uploaded so that they can be entered into our system.
Deadline to submit materials for credentialing consideration
is March 6th, 2015. High school instructors will be notified by
April 1st, 2015 regarding their final CCP credentialing status at
UC Uptown Campus.
In adherence to the standards outlined by the Ohio Board
of Regents, instructors who do not meet the credentialing
standards will automatically be considered for temporary
credentialing according to the guidelines for “transitioning
with quality.” Please contact the university CCP staff for more
information.
Professional Development
Please contact UC CCP staff for professional development
opportunities for high school instructors.
Reporting Procedures
Districts/schools and the University will be required to confirm
enrollment according to procedures outlined by the Board of
Regents.
UC Safety Policy requires all classes to report their meeting
times and locations on and off campus. High school instructors
are required to send this information to their UC contact at the
campus through which the course is offered.
To uphold CCP data reporting requirements, student,
administrator, and instructor feedback surveys should be
completed and returned upon completion of the course. These
surveys will be communicated electronically either by e-mail or
blackboard.
In the case of disciplinary or academic misconduct, instructors
should contact their respective UC contact.

Information on how to access advisement will be distributed to
students along with admissions decisions.
In addition to College Credit Plus information sessions hosted at
your local high school, required advisement takes place online
to ensure that students receive the necessary information to
succeed and prepare for their college course.
Students will also have the option to schedule in-person
advisement with a CCP academic adviser to further discuss
course transferability, college and career tracks, and/or academic
progress. In-person advisement will be by appointment only,
and can be scheduled by contacting UC CCP staff.
Course Delivery Methods
1. High School Instruction
Courses are offered at the high school and are taught by
high school instructors who are credentialed as UC volunteer
adjunct faculty. Instructors are held to the same instructional
standards required for all UC Faculty who teach courses on
campus. High school instructors are paired with current UC
Faculty Mentors who observe class instruction and provide
consistent feedback and consultation to adhere to university
standards.
2. University Campus Instruction
On campus course options are available at all three campuses.
Students are expected to adhere to University class schedule
and final dates. A copy of the student’s University course
schedule should remain at home and with his or her school
counselor.
3. Distance Learning
Courses are offered online. Students are expected pace
themselves to complete work independently. High schools
may offer a space for students to complete work during
the school day. Students should have reliable access to the
internet in order to complete distance learning coursework,
and are expected to communicate consistently with his or her
course instructor through e-mail and/or office hours.

may differ depending on their major. Course credit may be
applied toward a major requirement, general education/core
curriculum requirement, free elective, or total semester hours.
Students should check with institutions of interest regarding
transfer of courses prior to CCP enrollment.
• College transfer credits earned through UC CCP are generally
accepted by most major institutions. However, credits are
not always guaranteed for transfer toward private or out-ofstate institutions. Students who are interested in attending
private or out-of-state institutions should ask about transfer of
courses prior to CCP enrollment.
• Grades received through CCP are reflected twice, on high
school and college transcripts, both of which will affect
respective GPAs. Students struggling with work are highly
advised to consult their instructor and seek supplementary
instruction via the UC Learning Assistance Center.
• Students taking CCP courses on campus are responsible for
arranging transportation to and from class. Please make sure
student schedules are on record at home and at school for
ensured safety procedure.

Transcript Ordering
Students who plan on attending UC Uptown Campus, UC Blue
Ash, or UC Clermont as a college freshman will have their UC
transcript on file.
Students, not parents or guidance counselors, are required to
communicate with instructors and CCP coordinators and must
manage their college responsibilities both in and out of the
classroom.
For CCP participants taking distance learning courses:
Students who are taking courses via distance learning are still
required to abide by the UC student code of conduct in addition
to policies established at the student’s high school, regardless
of where the coursework is completed. Students are held
responsible for the completion of all coursework by setting their
own pace and for maintaining communication between with the
instructor of record. Technological issues that may hinder course
progress must be reported to the designated CCP coordinator
at the student’s high school and the UC Program Coordinator to
discuss alternate options for coursework completion.
For CCP participants taking on campus courses:
Students who plan on attending another university or college
will need to request an official UC transcript. UC does not
automatically send official transcripts. The transcript will display
the dual credits earned and will help the student’s university or
college of choice to determine which of the courses he or she
will receive credit for.
Students taking courses on campus are required to abide by
the UC student code of conduct. Students are also required to
abide by any behavioral or academic policies established at
the student’s high school. Students, not parents or guidance
counselors, are required to communicate with instructors and
CCP coordinators and must manage their college responsibilities
both in and out of the classroom.
To adhere to safety procedures, students must retain a copy of
their schedule at home and with their school CCP coordinator,
counselor, and/or academic advisor.
Steps for ordering a UC transcript:
3. Students begin by visiting the One Stop Website at
onestop.uc.edu and clicking on “Grades and Transcripts.”
4. Students should verify their grades prior to ordering
transcripts by clicking on “check my grades” to make sure
that the instructor has entered the grades. Students will need
their UC 6+2 Logon Username and password to check their
grades.

Confidentiality of Student Records
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (34 C.F.R.
Part 99—commonly known as FERPA), is the federal law that
governs the release of and access to student education records.
Under this federal law, we may not release any information
about any enrolled student, even a student under the age of
18, without a records release on file.
Furthermore, when a student is enrolled in both a high school
and at the University of Cincinnati, the two schools may
exchange information on that student. If the student is under
18, the parents still retain the rights under FERPA at the high
school and may inspect and review any records sent by UC to
the high school.
Further information on FERPA and Records Privacy is located at:
www.uc.edu/registrar/FERPA_and_records_privacy.html
Online authorization requests for Parent/Guardian access to
records are outlined step-by-step at:
