Energy Supply Track #1:
Managing Risks in Today’s Competitive Energy Markets
Anyone purchasing electricity for their facilities needs to have a strategy identified and a plan to
properly manage energy commodity risk. This can only be done through a well-defined risk
policy and a strategic objective. Learn from fellow national key account customers in this panel
discussion on managing risk as you procure energy in markets across the country. Understand
what should you consider, how to quantify risk and how to manage risk. Please bring your
experience, ideas and questions to share in this interactive panel discussion.

Managing Utilities Track #1:
Getting a Grip on Utility Incentives Within Your Organization
Without question, there is a growing amount of incentive programs throughout the country.
But with very limited human capital and a million other things to do; what should customers
consider when developing a strategic plan to optimize rebate opportunities? How do you figure
out where to put your eggs to get the most bang for the buck?
Steve DePalo, Director of Energy, McDonalds Corporation
Howard Spellman, Executive Vice President, Coleman-Hines
David D. Sergeant, Project Manager, Energy, jcpenney (moderator)
Customer Technologies Track #1:
Optimizing What’s on Your Roof: DoE’s RTU Challenge
Rooftop unites (RTUs) are used in nearly half of all cooling conditioned commercial floor space in
the United States. RTUs built according to the new specifications are expected to reduce energy
use by as much as 50% compared to the current ASHRAE 90.1 standard, depending on location
and facility type. Nationwide, if all 10-20 ton commercial units were replaced with units built to
this new specification, businesses would save about $1 billion each year in energy costs.
Thomas S. Weaver, P.E., President, Conservation Mechanical Systems, Inc.
Art Justice, Director of Energy, Cinemark USA, Inc. (moderator)
Sustainability Track #1:
Building the Winning Case Internally for Energy and Sustainability Capital Projects

The Changing Use of Natural Gas and What It Could Mean to Your Operations
Thanks in large part to the abundance of low cost natural gas, improvements in operational
efficiencies, environmental challenges facing electricity generation fleets, and other factors;
there has been a significant mitigation toward natural gas as a baseload fuel source. Moving
forward how will this phenomenon likely impact energy policies as well as the way you
strategize your energy priorities?

Managing Utilities Track #2:
Maximizing Enterprise Energy Management Systems (EEMS) in a Smart Grid World
Managing the complexities of collecting data from the many incongruent sources and then
putting it in a useable form to maximize operational efficiencies within a facility has been made
easier with advancements EEMS over the years. EEMS’ have proven to be an ideal platform for
data collection and warehousing, monitoring and diagnostic capabilities and much more. But
looking beyond the meter and at an increasingly “smarter,” more responsive commercial grid,
what’s store for customers that have EEMS capabilities?
