TRIVIA FUND RAISER
NOT SO TRIVAL
Our League is organizing something new!!! On
October 19th we will be holding our First Annual
Sonoma Trivia Challenge in partnership with 6 th
Street Playhouse. The event will be held at the
Firth Center in Windsor. Proceeds will be divided
equally between our two education departments.
We have been in the organization mode for several
months with a committee consisting of three
League members and three from 6 th Street. The
combined expertise is awesome.
Our goal is to have thirty teams of three people,
$300 entry fee per team. Audience members will
pay $25. We will serve a pasta dinner with a nohost wine and beer bar.
The game goes something like this: The emcee
asks a question. Teams have three minutes to
write down their answer. The answers are picked
up by runners and taken to the score keepers. If
you are in the audience you can also participate.
Answer pads will be on the tables. If you know
the answer, write it down, along with your name,
hold it up in the air with a $5 bill and a runner will
pick it up. Papers with the correct answers will be
put into a barrel, the $5 goes into another pot and
at the end of the night one of the names will be
pulled to share 50/50 in all the money collected.
When the final team scores are tallied first, second
and third place winners will be announced and
gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded.
We have a web site: triviasonoma.com. So far
we have promises (no money, just promises) of 12
teams. We’re reaching out to the community for
teams from a variety of organizations, corporations, service groups or just plain folks.
So, if you are a trivia nut, or know someone who

NEW MEMBER
Rosemarie Cadwell
While living in New York I was a member of The
Historical Society of Early American Decoration
and taught Stenciling and Country Painting. I have
enjoyed gardening and flower arranging. My husband, Earle, and I were transferred (AT&T) from
New York to San Francisco in 1985. We sailed a
great deal on San Francisco Bay . We lived in the
Bay Area and in San Clemente before moving to
Gualala. While in Gualala, I served on the Gualala
Arts Chamber Music Committee. After the death
of my husband, I moved to Santa Rosa where I am
enjoying the beauty and friendship here at
Varenna. I have two children and two grandchildren.
CHILDREN’S VILLAGE DIRECTOR
SPEAKER AT LUNCHEON
We are pleased to announce that Anjana Utarid,
executive director of The Children's Village of Sonoma County, will be our luncheon speaker on
Wednesday, September 12. Anjana has served the
Village for four years, first as associate director,
and now as director. She will introduce us to the
unique concept of foster care, right here in Santa
Rosa, where siblings are kept together in a family
like setting nurtured by Village House parents,
grandparents, and a support staff of volunteers,
tutors, and mentors.
The Children's Village opened its doors to children
in August, 2006 and now serves twenty-four children.
Anjana will speak to us on her vision for The Children's Village.
The luncheon will be held at the Flamingo Hotel
and Spa in Santa Rosa. The deadline for registration is September 6.
