GREENVILLE ZOO OFFERS CAREER DAY FOR STUDENTS – Tuesday, February 25, 2014 for
Middle School Students and Wednesday, February 26, 2014 for High School Students from 10:00 AM –
1:00 PM. *Lunch will be provided. Students will learn firsthand what it takes to become a zoo veterinarian,
zookeeper or an education curator at the Greenville Zoo’s Middle School and High School Career Day. The
yearly event includes interactive sessions with zoo staff and a behind-the-scenes tour of the Greenville Zoo.
Interested students must register before the day of the event and space is limited. The cost to participate is

Greenville County Schools Offers Students Free Online SAT Prep Course Greenville County Schools is
offering a free Online SAT Prep Course from the College Board. The online course helps students improve
their overall readiness for the SAT with interactive lessons, practice tests, personalized score reports, essay
writing skills, and detailed answer explanations. Students should contact their school counselor for their
unique student access code and directions on how to access the program. There are three remaining SAT test
dates for 2013-14: March 8, 2014 (register by February 7, 2014), May 3, 2014 (register by April 14,
2014), and June 7, 2014 (register by May 9, 2014). To register for the SAT, visit www.collegeboard.com.
At-Risk Four-Year-Old Kindergarten (4K) Screening March 19-21, 2014

The Upcountry History Museum is sponsoring a school wide art competition for students in grades 3-12.
Students are to submit a drawing, picture or photograph that addresses the theme: “What does
Segregation Look Like?” Deadline for submissions is April 1, 2014, with winners being announced
April, 19, 2014 and awards given at a ceremony April 24, 2014. Local artists, John Pendarvis, Ric
Standridge and Pat Kilburg, all local visual artists, are serving as judges.
BMW MC is having their 2014 USC Upstate BMW Manufacturing Academic Outreach Camp at the
USC Upstate College of Business in Spartanburg. If you know of any rising high school seniors (with
good GPA’s) who have an interest in math, statistics, physics, and business and manufacturing processes that
would be interested in applying to attend this two week camp, please pass this info on to them. There is NO
cost to the students. The camp will be held June 9-13 and June 16 – 20, 2014. For more detailed

Bridges to a Brighter Future in the areas of college admission, enrollment, retention counseling, program

Progress: Greenville's Civil Rights Movement, in commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.
