Project Pinwheel is community wide Child Abuse prevention effort, coordinated by Greenville First Steps
with support from several partner agencies including Children’s Trust of SC, GHS, Greenville County
Department of Social Services, Long Branch Baptist Church, and Primrose School of Greenville. The
purpose of Project Pinwheel is to celebrate the small things families, neighbors, and community member can
do to help keep children safe and secure. Project Pinwheel is built around nationally recognized research.

Greenville County Schools Offers Students Free Online SAT Prep Course Greenville County Schools is
offering a free Online SAT Prep Course from the College Board. The online course helps students improve
their overall readiness for the SAT with interactive lessons, practice tests, personalized score reports, essay
writing skills, and detailed answer explanations. Students should contact their school counselor for their
unique student access code and directions on how to access the program. There is one remaining SAT test
dates for 2013-14: June 7, 2014 (register by May 9, 2014). To register for the SAT, visit
www.collegeboard.com.
James F. and Dr. Flora Johnson Winestock Scholarship at Greenville Tech application deadline is May

Inmates from the state Department of Corrections will visit the Mount Pleasant Community Center, 710
S. Fairfield Road, Greenville, at 6:00 PM. Thursday, May 8, 2014 as participants in Operation Get Smart.
The program lets youth and their parents hear in person from six to ten inmates about actions that led to their
involvement in crime and the consequences of criminal behavior. The event is free and open to the public.

Upcountry History Museum - Furman University will offer a local civil rights exhibit entitled - Protests,
Prayers and Progress: Greenville's Civil Rights Movement, in commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King
Jr.’s birthday.
