2015-16 Catalog
• The School of Business offers a Bachelor of Science in Business degree with seven majors available: Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Information Systems, Marketing, Management and Leadership, and Supply Chain Management. In addition to the seven majors, the school offers five business concentrations in Information Systems, International Business, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship or Supply Chain Management.
• The KU undergraduate business programs are offered in a traditional classroom-based format on the Lawrence campus, with very few options for evening or online courses.
• Students must first apply to the University of Kansas. Applications to the University of Kansas may be obtained online at www.admissions.ku.edu, or through the KU Office of Admissions. Students should request official transcripts from all colleges and universities they have attended be sent directly to the KU Office of Admissions.
• After being granted admission to the University, students must complete a separate application for the School of Business. Students who have not met the prerequisite requirements for the School of Business will remain in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and will apply to the School of Business when prerequisite requirements are satisfied. JCCC students who will have completed all the prerequisite requirements before transferring and wish to be considered for direct admission to the School of Business should contact the KU advisor at JCCC to learn about the application process, or speak to an advisor at the KU main campus. Call (913) 469-3809 for an appointment with the KU advisor.
• Application deadline for direct admission to the School of Business is February 15 for fall and September 15 for spring. Students should apply to the School of Business during the semester they will complete the admission requirements.
Minimum requirements to apply to the School of Business include:
• Completion of at least 60 transferrable college credit hours that include the following required pre-business classes or equivalents: ACCT 200 Financial Accounting I, ACCT 201 Managerial Accounting I, DSCI 202 Statistics, ECON 142 Microeconomics, ECON 144 Macroeconomics, and IST 202 Intro to Information Systems.
• Foundation business courses must be taken for a grade.
• Effective Fall of 2008, students may only use courses with a grade of “C” or higher to fulfill requirements. Courses with the grade of “D” or “F” will still be included in the overall GPA for admission, but will not satisfy requirements.
• Repeat policies that apply at JCCC do not transfer to KU School of Business. All repeated courses will be calculated in the School of Business GPA when transferred.
• At least a 2.5 GPA in all college coursework, in all professional coursework (all business and economics courses), in coursework completed at KU, and in all professional coursework (all business and economics courses) completed at KU.
• Only students meeting all of the above requirements at the time of application will be considered for admission to the School of Business. Because admission is competitive, meeting all of the requirements does not guarantee admission into the School of Business.
• Students meeting the minimum admission requirements who have also earned at least a 3.0 in all professional coursework are guaranteed admission into the School of Business.
• A student may apply a total of 64 hours of community college coursework to KU. Students with more than 64 hours of community college coursework cannot apply the hours toward the 120 hour graduation requirement. Students are required to complete 45 credit hours of junior/senior level coursework to satisfy graduation requirements.
