Unfortunately, not all the existing racing infrastructure is well used today or is fit for the use it was intended - a good example is the old or heritage listed grandstand which no longer enjoys a satisfactory view of the finishing post. The SAJC is committed to maintaining a viable horse racing tradition in Victoria Park during horse racing events. Importantly, the Masterplan allows for a number of buildings, structures and hard surface areas associated with horse racing to be removed – this includes the brick wall adjacent to Fullarton Road, the semi enclosed betting ring and the Member’s grandstand. Through this rationalisation and consolidation of horse racing activities, a significant amount of space will be opened up for public use.
