seen without jewels (when Christie’s sold
taylor’s magnificent jewelry collection in
2011, it broke sales records and realized
more than $137 million) she once, according
to The New York Times, admitted: “i know
i’m vulgar, but would you have me any other
way?” here taylor is seen at her home in
New york in 1976 in an ornate gown worthy
of her equally ornate surroundings. When,
toward the end of her life, someone asked
the actress if she would like help writing her
memoirs, she boldly responded: “hell no,
i’m still living my memoirs!”
