DWS-SADI Mineral Mizer™

Before you begin

1. The main components to identify include:

the DWS-SADI and its associated DI Storage Tank and RED faucet.

The DWS-DIHR retractable RED faucet might be substituted here but the instructions will refer to the RED faucet.

the Installation Kit, a plastic bag of parts required for installation.

2. Some fittings have a RED locking clip in place. These clips MUST be removed before installing the tubing and must be re-installed after the new length of tubing is put into place. Please refer to the John Guest Super

Speedfit instruction sheet later in this document.

3. If the DWS-SADI will be moved to change filters, make sure that you leave enough slack in tubing to allow such movement.

Locate the DWS-SADI

4. Mount the DWS-SADI back panel on a wall that will provide access to change the filters. Locate the mounting screws using the system-mounting

TEMPLATE provided.

5. Place the DI storage tank close to the DWS-SADI.

Install plumbing modifications

6. Turn OFF the cold water supply BEFORE installing the saddle valve.

7. Install the saddle valve using the instructions in the saddle valve package.

Leave the saddle valve in the CLOSED (in) position.

8. Install the RED faucet in the sink pop-out using the supplied faucet hardware.

9. Locate and mount the DI monitor (DI Pure Check Monitor located in installation kit) using double back Velcro tape. Note: battery already installed; requires annual battery changes. Insert the plug end of the

BLACK wire into the electric jack on the bottom of the DI monitor.

10. Install the drain adapter per the separate drain adapter instructions found within its packaging.

Connect the DWS-SADI to plumbing (refer to DWS-SADI photo)

11. After cutting to the appropriate length, connect the DWS-SADI’s RED ¼” water input tube to the water inlet ¼” compression fitting on the saddle valve.

12. After cutting to the appropriate length, connect the DWS-SADI to the DI

Storage Tank with an attached WHITE ¼” tube per the DWS-SADI photo.

13. After cutting to the appropriate length, connect the DWS-SADI to the RED faucet with an attached WHITE ¼” tube per the DWS-SADI photo.

14. After cutting to the appropriate length, connect the DWS-SADI to the drain adapter with the attached BLACK ¼” tube per the DWS-SADI photo.

DWS-SADI Initial Startup

15. Check the clear filter housings to ensure that the two DI filters are not yet installed.

16. Turn the DI Storage Tank’s valve ON per the DWS-SADI photo.

17. Turn on the cold water supply and turn the saddle valve to the ON (out) position.

18. Check the DWS-SADI and the DI storage tank for leaks.

19. The RO membrane must be flushed of its chemical preservative by making 5 gallons of water. This water is unusable and must be discarded as follows. If your DI storage tank is 10 gallons or larger, go to step 22.

20. Allow the DI Storage Tank to fill (2-3 hours for a 4 gallon tank).

21. Open the RED faucet and allow water to flush down the drain until the output slows to a trickle. Close the RED faucet.

22. Allow the DI Storage Tank to fill (2-3 hours for a 4 gallon tank, 5-6 for a 10 gallon tank, 6-7 hours for a 14 gallon tank).

23. Turn off the water supply to the DWS-SADI by turning the saddle valve to the OFF (in) position.

24. Open the RED faucet and allow water to flush down the drain until the output stops. Close the RED faucet.

Production Startup

25. Remove the DWS-SADI’s two clear filter housings, dump the water out and install the two DI filters. Make sure the housings are snug but do not over tighten.

26. Turn ON the water supply to the DWS-SADI by turning the saddle valve to the ON position.

27. Allow the DI Storage Tank to fill. (2-3 hours for a 4 gallon tank, 5-6 for a 10 gallon tank, 6-7 hours for a 14 gallon tank).

Test water with the autoclave

28. The deionized water (RED faucet) produced by the DWS-SADI should be at an acceptable TDS level for use with your autoclave. Test this by using water from the RED faucet to run the autoclave through a cycle. If the autoclave rejects the water, an additional flush of the DWS-SADI will be necessary. Open the RED faucet and allow water to flush down the drain until the output slows to a trickle. Close the RED faucet. Allow the DI

Storage Tank to fill and repeat this instruction.

29. Use the pushbutton DI monitor to determine if it’s time to change DI filters every time you use the DWS-SADI. Make sure that you keep a set of two

DI filters, part# DWS-LRDC2, on hand so that you can quickly change them to get the DWS-SADI running when the current set of filters expires.

The annual maintenance package, DWS-RPKS, also includes two DI filters along with a sediment/carbon block filter for the third canister.
