Thermotech TMix® XS is a fully assembled, compact mixing
unit intended for small areas such as bathrooms and hallways. It is designed for connection of a maximum of 4 loops
for size 8 mm, alternatively one loop for sizes 12, 16, 17 or
20 mm.
The mixing unit can be ordered in six different configurations depending on the preferred type of control. Three
of the packages include a 350-W immersion heater that
maintains a comfortable floor temperature for clinker floor
surfaces up to a maximum of 12 m2 (29 W/m2), during the
months of the year when the ordinary source of heat is turned off.
TMix® XS is delivered fully assembled and equipped with:
• Circulation pump with cable and plug
• Thermostat valve
• Couplings for underfloor heating pipes, 17 x 2 mm pipes
• Couplings to primary source of heating, Cu15
• Manual air vent
Capacity
At 50 W/m2 and 5°C (**7°C) temperature drop. Specified
lengths refer to longest loop. Applies to all versions.

Remember
Configuration
The mixing unit is intended for connection to two-pipe
systems and cannot be connected to single-pipe heating
systems. For single-pipe systems, mixing unit TMix® S is
recommended.
The mixing unit in its basic configuration is equipped with a
hand knob on the two-way valve and the appropriate control
package is chosen from the table to the left.
Optimal function and easy deaeration is achieved by letting
the mixing unit constitute the system's highest point.

The basic model of the TMix® XS mixing unit includes the

Switching from left to right connection
The TMix® XS is delivered with the couplings on the right as
standard. To move the couplings to the left, the mixing unit
is disconnected from the brackets and turned.
If an immersion heater is installed, the safety valve must be
turned so that it points outwards.

Immersion heater, 350 W
Noise
The purpose of the immersion heater is to maintain a comfortable floor temperature for surfaces up to 12 m2 (29 W/
m2). The TMix® XS with an immersion heater can also be
used for heating surfaces up to 7 m2 (50 W/m2).
Thermotech's mixing units are equipped with circulation
pumps of high quality. Despite this, the pumps are not completely quiet during operation.
* The TMix® XS with an immersion heater is intended for
clinker floors and maintains an average floor temperature
of 25 ± 1.5°C.
NB: The temperature above cannot be regulated. The specified temperatures apply to heating loops embedded in concrete with maximum c/c spacing of 200 mm.
The lowest possible noise level is attained by having a properly deaerated underfloor heating system and a correctly
dimensioned pump. Equipment with circulation pumps
should not be installed close to areas that are especially sensitive to noise, such as bedrooms.

Heat conducting medium
Thermostatic valve (3)
Drinking water should be used as the heat conducting medium and normally does not require treatment. If there is
risk for freezing, an anti-freeze agent must be added when
the system is filled.
The integrated mixing unit is equipped with a DN15 thermostat valve. A fully open valve has a capacity value of 1.1.
The valve can be used with thermostatic heads, with air sensors or electric actuators.
Follow the respective manufacturers' instructions for correct mixture of the anti-freeze agent in the heat conducting
medium. We recommend however, a mixture with no more
than 30% glycol. Higher percentages can damage the heating system's components.
Installation of actuator 67034 requires an adapter ring (product ID 67028).
It is important that all included system components are
oxygen-diffusion tight. Oxygen encroachment can lead to
corrosion in the heating system and deposits in the heat
conducting medium, damaging moving system components.
The circulation pump has seven selectable speeds that are
chosen using the knob above the pump housing. The choice
of speed depends on system-specific properties. We recommend speed 2 or 3 as a basic setting.

The TMix® XS can be installed on or in walls. The following
recommendations apply:
• Do not install the mixing unit directly adjoining bedrooms.
• The mixing unit must not have direct contact with the
concrete slab via metal constructions.
• Firmly secure the mixing unit. Ensure that the mixing
unit is installed on a stable structural construction so
that vibrations and problems with noise do not occur.
The mixing unit must be installed with the pump's motor
shaft horizontal.
Once the mixing unit and the underfloor heating loops are
installed, the system must be filled. Fill the mixing unit with
water from the heating system and start the mixing unit's
pump. Now deaerate using the manual air vent.
NB: Take care in shutting the air vent once the air has been
removed from the system.
