family of companies OUR HISTORY… Pacific Coast Building Products’ origins go back to February 17, 1953, the day Fred Anderson opened the doors to Anderson Lumber Company in Sacramento, California. In preparation for that day Fred and his wife Pat put all they owned up for collateral in exchange for a bank loan. After leasing a piece of property they bought an old delivery truck, enough inventory to last them a couple of months, and placed a small ad in the Sacramento Bee newspaper announcing the opening of Anderson Lumber. That opening would be the first of many. Over the years Fred ventured into other areas of the building industry. By 1976, the year his son-in-law, Dave Lucchetti, took over as president, the company had expanded into manufacturing, contracting, and distributing building materials like wallboard, roofing, and insulation. Under Dave’s stewardship more companies would be acquired or built. Today our companies contain a wide variety of products and services designed for residential, industrial, and commercial projects of all sizes and complexity. We have locations from Canada to Colorado and all points in between. Our products can be found on the trendy shops of Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills (Gladding McBean terra cotta) to the very industrial Port of Oakland (Basalite pavers). Custom homes and small and large subdivisions all over the western US have incorporated our products and services. We are proud that our company has played a role in the completion of countless successful and varied projects. Our company ‘house’ logo was designed years ago with the sides not touching. The slight separations signify that our company is never complete, but always evolving, open to new products, innovations, and ideas. Those beliefs were important factors in building our business and remain critical to our future success. 1 PA C I F I C C O A S T B U I L D I N G P R O D U C T S 2 OUR COMMITMENT… To our Customers Company founder Fred Anderson laid the foundation for outstanding customer service by cultivating relationships with his customers, making sure he always carried the highest quality products available, and delivering those materials on schedule. Any issues that came up were resolved quickly, and to everyone’s satisfaction. That solid foundation has evolved over the years to include other services and a host of products not available in 1953. Today we have a staff of representatives that offer a wide range of seminars and clinics to architects, engineers, and designers on our manufactured products. We now have over 40 distribution centers across the western US that carry an array of products, and a large fleet of trucks to deliver them to the job site. The guiding principles established all those years ago by Fred remain the same today throughout Pacific Coast Building Products family of companies. Our mission to provide outstanding customer service, quality products, and nurture strong customer relationships is as important today as it was on the day Fred put out his first ‘Open for Business’ sign. Whatever your needs in the field of construction, Pacific Coast Building Products team of professionals are here to help. To the Environment Long before it became socially responsible for companies to promote their environmental “greenness” our subsidiaries were implementing practices to make sure our manufactured products tread lightly on the environment. Our company, like much of the rest of the world, is still exploring how we can best conserve and expand our resources. Our goal is to manufacture the highest quality building products possible with little or no negative impact on the environment. We have come a long way in our journey and we will continue to make positive strides towards accomplishing that end. To the Community The people who make up Pacific Coast Building Products are committed to the betterment of the built environment. Many employees have joined with their industry peers and become active members of organizations dedicated to preserving and strengthening the building industry. That involvement has extended to mentoring the workforce of tomorrow through job shadowing, plant tours, and even to the classroom. Believing in sharing not only our business experience, but our financial success as well, in 1999 the Pacific Coast Building Products Charitable Foundation was founded to aid various charities, particularly those that benefit children. From an initial $1 million contribution, today the fund has over $3 million that has helped vital children’s programs like Ronald McDonald House, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, WIND Youth Center, Project Ride, Sierra Forever Families, and many other child welfare organizations. We also believe in helping our own, and to that end the Pacific Coast Scholarship Foundation was created in 1999 to award scholarships to the children and grandchildren of active and retired employees. Thanks to the foundation, hundreds of young people and their parents have had the burden of high tuition and all the other costs associated with attending college lightened. 3 BASALITE CONCRETE PRODUCTS BASALITE’S STRUCTURAL CONSTRUCTION MASONRY UNITS (CMU) remains the top choice for designers and builders alike. Established in the 1880s by three brothers, Simons’ storied history includes providing material for the rebuilding of San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake, and many of Los Angeles’s older buildings were built with Simons Brick. Today the company, located in Corona, California, makes concrete wet cast face brick, edging, and stepping-stones. EPIC PLASTICS has set the standard for recycling in California, creating high quality and environmentally friendly landscape products from post-consumer recycled plastics. Each year Epic converts over 144 million shampoo bottles, milk containers and other post-consumer goods into products that have the ability to “define the design” in a landscape installation. www.epicplastics.com COLUMBIA ROOF TILE, based in Surrey, BC, offers a 50-year product warranty, affordability, beauty, and guarantee not to rot, curl, warp, rust, or burn, along with five roof tile profiles: Shake, Double Roman, Split Shake, Slate, and Shake Weather Edge combine the durability and competitive cost of concrete tile with the natural appearance of cedar and stone. www.columbiarooftile.com PATTERSON WHITTAKER ARCHITECTURAL PROFILES offers affordable, elegant, lightweight, durable, and easy to install decorative shapes that avoid many of the challenges and costs associated with pre-cast concrete, wood, and other common building detailing methods. www.pwprofiles.com www.basalite.com (707) 678-1901 4 5 PA B C O ® B U I L D I N G P R O D U C T S 6 PABCO GYPSUM’S motto is “Quality to the Core” and that commitment is displayed every day with each piece of wallboard produced. Ceiling board, fire-rated wallboard, water-resistant gypsum backing board, exterior gypsum soffit board, gypsum sheathing board, and shaftliner board come in a variety of types, sizes, and paper surfaces for commercial and residential use. Voted the best wallboard manufacturing plant in the world by Global Gypsum magazine, all the employees who make-up Pabco consistently demonstrate why this highest of accolades was deserved. We continue to expand our product offerings to meet the demands of an ever-evolving market and stay focused on developing wallboard that will hold up under the harshest conditions. PABCO PAPER manufactures customized face and back paper for Pabco’s gypsum board. Underwriters Laboratories Inc. provides the required third party inspection service for all of Pabco’s fire-rated products and UL Classified labels are stamped on the back of each panel. Additionally, the plant manufactures other paper products such as instantly recognizable pink pastry boxes, divider boards, food and beverage trays found at movie theaters, and coffee cup sleeves. These are just some of the products Pabco Paper currently supplies to the marketplace. PABCO ROOFING PRODUCTS has been manufacturing high quality asphalt roofing shingles for homes and commercial buildings for over a quarter of a century. The shingles come in a wide selection of styles and colors to complement any type of architectural style. An example of style meets quality can be seen in the recently restored Heritage House at Dominican University in Napa County. The over 100 year old mansion was re-roofed with Pabco’s patented Cascade shingle that showcases the roof’s steep pitches, and stately and ornate exterior. At Pabco Roofing we are so confident in the quality of our shingles we have eliminated the typical 20, 30, and 50 year warranties. We now offer transferrable limited lifetime warranties on all of our products. So whether you are looking for a roof for your shopping center, school, ranch style home, or historical mansion, Pabco Roofing is your last stop. building products, LLC www.pabcogypsum.com www.pabcoroofing.com (916) 631-6500 7 PA B C O ® C L AY P R O D U C T S GLADDING, MCBEAN’S origins go back to 1874 when two young men from Chicago, Charles Gladding and Peter McBean, heard about a wealth of “potters clay” in the tiny town of Lincoln, California. When they learned that the clay was of excellent quality and infinite supply, within months the plant was up and running and clay sewer pipe was being shipped all over the state. Architectural terra cotta followed soon after and Gladding McBean quickly became a leader in producing architectural terra cotta facades for some of the country’s most recognizable landmarks. Over the years the plant would expand its line to include ornamental pottery, roofing tiles, floor tiles, and chimney tops and caps. Today, more than 130 years later, the plant is still thriving, with clay reserves assuring operations for decades to come. Gladding, McBean has combined old world craftsmanship with new technology such as laser scanning and computeraided designs to provide customers with infinite creative possibilities. H.C. MUDDOX BRICK is just four years younger than its sister company, Gladding McBean. Established in 1878 Muddox joined Pacific Coast Building Products in 1980 and supplies a large distributor network with clay products that include standard face thin brick, flue liners, pavers, pool coping, and structural brick. H.C. Muddox also offers custom shapes, sizes, and colors in a range of products. The abundant, high quality clay deposits that started H.C. Muddox all those years ago will continue to provide raw materials for years to come. Combining the colors and consistencies for the clays and firing to different temperatures brings out the variety of warm earthen tones that are the company’s hallmark. INTERSTATE BRICK, the youngest of the brick manufacturing plants (est. 1891), is widely recognized as one of the premier commercial brick manufacturers in the U.S. The company’s products, used in residential and commercial construction, offer several distinguishing features that motivate architects and builders across the country to specify them. An example of that can be found in the unique Atlas Structural brick, fabricated up to 16 inches long to permit taller, thinner walls that can withstand earthquakes, extreme wind conditions, and fire. The company also provides 16 inch Emperor Face Brick that can be scored to look like smaller bricks, allowing masons to increase their output. The combination of Interstate’s unique shapes and sizes, ability to offer over 60 color blends, and easy and fast access to extensive technical expertise, convinces customers, commercial and residential alike, that nothing else stacks up like Interstate Brick. clay products, LLC www.gladdingmcbean.com (916) 645-3341 www.hcmuddox.com (916) 859-6320 www.interstatebrick.com (801) 280-5200 8 9 PA C I F I C C O A S T B U I L D I N G S E R V I C E S 10 Pacific Coast Building Services operates specialty contracting businesses throughout California, Nevada, Arizona, Washington, Oregon, and Hawaii. Our customer base is largely subcontractors who service the production and multifamily builder. We receive the majority of our products on railcars and then break them down into framing packages that consist of lumber, sheeting, engineered wood products, and siding. By using our state-of-the-art technology and precutting these packages, Anderson can help expedite fast and precise installation. ANDERSON TRUSS manufactures open web floor and roof trusses for single-family homes, production tracts, multi-family projects, and light commercial projects. Anderson Truss provides value to builders and framing contractors by custom designing and value engineering each project. Once the trusses are manufactured each package is delivered to the plate-line by our fleet of boom trucks. DIAMOND PACIFIC and WEYRICK PACIFIC operate California locations in Grass Valley, Auburn, Placerville, and Templeton that provide custom homebuilders and subcontractors with a full range of building products including lumber, siding, engineered wood products, builders’ hardware, decking, wallboard, roofing, and masonry. Weyrick Pacific also operates a location in Corona, California that caters to the commercial framing contractor with a complete line of lumber and sheet goods. PC WHOLESALE, along with being the “buying arm” for all of the wood products locations in Pacific Coast Supply, also offers high-volume subcontractors mill-direct shipments of lumber and sheet goods. These customers typically cater to large apartment, hotel, or commercial projects that provide their own storage and cutting capability while handling multiple truckloads of product at one time. PACIFIC SUPPLY furnishes residential and commercial roofing, drywall, insulation, stucco, waterproofing, masonry, tools, and accessory products to a diverse subcontractor base. Pacific Supply is unique in the range of products available from a single source. We offer a large inventory along with the highest levels of customer service and logistical support that often sets us apart from the competition. With 30 locations in eight western states, and a fleet with over 500 pieces of delivery and material handling equipment, Pacific Supply can always meet the needs of our customers. When products are delivered to the jobsite they are placed at the point of application – roofing products are delivered to the roof, and wallboard is placed in each room. Masonry design centers are strategically located to showcase products that include interlocking concrete pavers, natural and synthetic stone, retaining walls, and many other products that can help transform a home into a castle, and a yard into a visual and functional masterpiece.
