EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
Our Emergency Department is an immediate access clinic
run by Consultants.

A discussion with a Consultant can be arranged prior to GP referral.
Open 7 days a week: Mon–Fri: 8 am–5 pm, Sat–Sun: 10 am–5 pm
We can provide you with:
Immediate access to a Consultant’s opinion
Same day investigations
Immediate management plan
Prompt discharge letter
Cardiology, General Surgery, Medical, Orthopaedic
and Urology patients can be seen at the Emergency
Department. Individual cases involving speciality expertise
should be discussed with the Emergency Department
Nurse/Consultant to ensure the Hermitage can offer the
service required by the G.P.
The Emergency Department will offer a dedicated GP
phone-line which will be manned by an Emergency Nurse
to facilitate direct referrals and discussion of individual cases.
How much will it cost?
Should a patient be admitted, then the Health Insurer may cover all costs
EXCEPT the initial €120 consultation fee.
All patients presenting to the Emergency Department will be charged €120
regardless of their insurance cover. Additional tests such as bloods and x-rays
will be extra (for individual rates please consult our Emergency Department
administrator at 01 – 645 9016).
We will also endeavour to communicate the outcome of each patient’s visit
to the referring GP the following day. This can be done by phone, fax or
email and the department will work with each GP to tailor this response to
accommodate the need of their individual practices.

a walk in service with a doctor’s referral letter during working
hours.

images. We also have a fully integrated RIS/PACS system.
Dental Radiology
Our equipment includes a Dentascan CT option and a Gendex
Orthoralix 9200 DDE which is a state-of-the-art digital OPG
unit. We offer a Pantomogram, Cephalometric and Tempro
mandibular joint service.
We also perform dental CT for dental implant surgery.

CARDIOLOGY DEPARTMENT
Our specialist department is staffed by a very experienced and enthusiastic
team of cardiac technicians. Each technician has a minimum of eight years
experience working in busy, acute care, cardiac centres and believes in a
patient focused, high quality and efficient service.
Our department is currently open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday
(GP Direct Access). We are happy to facilitate your patients with a routine
appointment within a week and perform same day testing on urgent referrals

CARDIAC CATHETERISATION LABORATORY
The Cardiac Cath Lab is a state-of-the-art facility with a full range of services
for performing a comprehensive list of diagnostic and interventional
procedures which includes:

• Coronary Angiogram
• Percutaneous Coronary Stenting – including a full range of complex
procedures e.g. multivessel, left main, chronic occlusion etc
• FFR & IVUS – intracoronary pressure wire and ultrasound to enhance
angiography in defi nitive diagnosis of significant coronary disease or
exclusion for same.
• Device Implanation (pacemakers and defibrillators) including heart
failure devices
• Electrophysiology Studies and RF Ablation Therapy for rhythm
disturbances
• Percutaneous Trans-catheter Septal Closures – Patient Foramen Ovale,
Atrial Septal defects, Patient Ductus Arteriosis etc
