Session V: On-Campus training at Kentucky State University:
Kentucky’s Teaching Goal 5 (Skills of Teaching) strongly supports teachers to teach
science with diverse actions, using effective
strategies and methodologies. This NSFfunded 3-day workshop provides a platform
to K-12 teachers of Franklin County Public
Schools (FCPS) to enrich their knowledge on
techniques in Molecular Microbiology and
introduces them the modern science of
NanoBiotechnology and Emerging Computer
Technologies for class room teaching.
Session I: On-Campus Seminar-session at Kentucky State University
Topic: 5. Hands-On experiments (3 hours): by PI.
Topic 1. Inaugural session with three seminar presentation (3 hours)
Part-A: Selected applied microbiology techniques and training
Part-A: Emerging computer technology for faculty
Part-B: Curriculum-related Molecular Microbiology lab activities
Part-B: Information technology at KSU to educate students
Part-C: Demonstration of equipments, tools and techniques.
Part-C: Introduction to NanoBiotechnology and nanoapplication.
Session VI: On-Campus training at Kentucky State University:
Franklin County Public Schools:
Session II: On-Campus practical training at Kentucky State University
Topic: 6. Hands-On experiments (3 hours): by PI
Participating K-12 teachers represent from
some of the public schools of FCPS: Franklin
County High School, Western Hill High
School, Hearn Elementary School.
Topic: 2. Hands-On experiments (3 hours): by Principle Investigator (PI)
Part-A: Results and discussion on ‘On-Campus lab experiments’
Part-A: Selected microbial techniques and training
Part-B: Results and discussion on ‘Off-Campus eProjects’
Part-B: Curriculum-related Molecular Microbiology lab activities
Part-C: Conclusion, and Exit conversation for further support
