Our program and roster of renowned guest speakers have always been impressive and promise to be so again this fall. The latest research and surgical techniques are consistently anticipated by our members. Our key note speaker Dr. Philip Gordon of Montreal will be joining us to talk on “Evolution of Colorectal Surgery During My Career” and “Evaluation and Management of Rectal Carcinoma”. Additionally, we’ll have other local colleagues on the program such as Drs. Marcus Burnstein, Stanley Feinberg, Ralph George and more. Each year we welcome General Surgeons from across the province. In particular, we also try to reach as many general surgical residents as possible. In addition to the educational content, it's a great opportunity for them to meet other professionals in their chosen specialty, perhaps even future colleagues. Our organization feels that it is important to include new surgeons during an event like this in order to learn more about and partake in important issues surrounding General Surgery of today ‐ surgical and political. We believe that your endorsing such an event would definitely encourage general surgical residents of your institution to strongly consider attending one of the more meaningful and important annual events of their impending surgical career. The experience will show them that there is support for them and that there is a cohesive community available in which to be involved beyond graduation. Your assistance in this endeavour would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Dr. Angus G. Maciver, MD FRCSC FACS OAGS Annual Meeting Committee, Chair OMA Section on General Surgery, Chair cc.
