Calculator: TI-84 or equivalent. Bring your calculator to class each day and to the Uniform Exams. Class expectations: As this is a spring class, the pace is extremely fast and you will need to make sure you keep up with the material. I will expect you to have read the indicated sections of the book on the days they will be covered. If you are confused at any time, let me know either in class, office hours, or by email so that you do not fall behind. Here you can keep track of what sections you need to read and what assignments are due. It will be updated with exam rooms and other information as the semester progresses. Grading: The grading for the course will be as follows. Quizzes: WebHW: Midterm Exam: Final Exam: 10% 20% 30% 40% You are expected to attend all lectures. There will be short weekly quizzes on the material of each chapter covered. There will be no make-ups for the quizzes, but I will drop the lowest quiz score when I compute your final grade. There is also daily homework for each section of the book that we cover. The homework is online at http://instruct.math.lsa.umich.edu/. The midterm will roughly cover the chapters 1-4. The final will be comprehensive but will focus on the material from chapters 5, 6, 8, and 9. Important Dates: Midterm Exam 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Tuesday, June 1 Final Exam 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm Friday, June 25 Dates for the exams are fixed. Take careful note of the above exam dates and ensure that any travel arrangements do not interfere with the midterm and final exams.
