TESTING CENTRE

It is with pride that we announce that the North Shore Development Centre is an official
International Competitions and Assessment for Schools (ICAS) Testing Centre. For over 30 years
ICAS has taken place annually in schools throughout Australia, New Zealand, Singapore,
Malaysia, Brunei, the Pacific region and South Africa. Your child is invited to participate in 2014.
ICAS is an initiative of Education Assessment Australia (EAA). EAA is an education group of
UNSW Global Pty Limited, a not-for-profit provider of education, training and consulting services
and a wholly owned enterprise of the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
ICAS provides an opportunity for all students to gain a measure of their own achievement in an
external assessment situation. It provides teachers, parents and students with comprehensive
reporting of results in Computer Skills, English, Mathematics, Science, and Writing.
All students receive a UNSW certificate and an individual student report indicating which questions
they answered correctly, their total score as well as their average compared with the rest of the
students in the country. The student report is also useful for highlighting student strengths and
weaknesses in the skills and processes in the ICAS test that they participate in.
UNSW certificates for each year level in each country are as follows:
 High Distinction to the top 1% of students
 Distinction to the next 10% of entrants
 Credit to the next 25% of entrants
 Participation to all other participating students.
North Shore Development Centre now offers ICAS tests to all students, providing their schools
are not currently offering the ICAS tests that they intend on entering. The attached
enrolment form needs to be completed prior to the ICAS test/s closing date.
The highest scores achieved at the North Shore Development Centres will be recognised by a
special award to be given at the discretion of the National Principal.
North Shore Development Centres have past ICAS papers that may be purchased to assist your
child prepare for the examinations. These past papers provide a valuable opportunity to gain test
experience whilst acquainting candidates with the style and content of possible question types.

Each student must bring 2B or B pencil and an eraser. Year 9-13 Mathematics calculator is required.
The parents are required to come to our office to collect the results & certificates when they are available.

right to cancel enrolment due to capacity issues in which case a full refund will be made.
An enrolment fee of $3.00 will be charged to non NSDC students.
