We are very proud of our BMB undergraduates. They are outstanding and now they are getting some
of the recognition they deserve. James Doroghazi (no photo available) was selected to receive a 2004
Undergraduate Research Fellowship from the American Society for Microbiology and also won funds towards
travel expenses to the 2005 ASM General Meeting in Atlanta. James is in the Triezenberg lab.
Nathan Lord (with Steve
Triezenberg whose lab he
works in) won a Barry M.
Goldwater Scholarship. One
of only 350 in the nation to
do so.
Bhooma Aravamuthan (from
the Burton Lab) also a recipient
of the Barry Goldwater
Scholarship.
Sze-ling Ng (from Kuo
lab)was an honorable
mention for the Goldwater
Scholarship.
POSITIONS
The U Wisconsin-Madison has a position in the Dept. of Nutritional Sciences. This postdoctoral position is
funded by the NIH Training Grant Program in Molecular and Applied Nutrition. Areas are molecular and
applied nutrition; regulation of gene expression and signal transduction development and aging; nutritional
basis of disease; nutritional epidemiology; and nutritional toxicology. See the folder on the door of 402 BCH
for more information.
Last Week: MP has been with the department
for almost 1/4 century, is married with children.
MP enjoys reading, sewing, and hiking. MP has
studied herbs and molecular biology diagnostics.
MP once worked as a concession manager at the
old Tiger Stadium. MP=Joyce Robinson
This Week: MP has been with the department for
approximately 20 years is married and has 2 children. MP is
assistant scout master for one of the children which takes MP
into the woods and camps. MP enjoys hiking and canoeing. MP
has canoed the boundry waters many times and seen moose up
close. Once MP and a few other friends planned a canoe trip
and split the duties for preparation. The person in charge of
bringing the food for the group for the week misunderstood and
only brought food for one person/one week. This was
discovered one full day into the trip. They all survived as the
fishing was good that year. Who is MP???
Any man who afflicts the human race with ideas must be prepared to see them misunderstood. –
