Access Oxford Scholarship Online E-Books 1. At the CityU Library Home Page (http://www.cityu.edu.hk/lib/), select E-book collections. 2. Select Oxford Scholarship Online from the alphabetical list. OR 3. At the CityU Library Home Page (http://www.cityu.edu.hk/lib/), select E-Resources. 4. Click on E-Books. 5. Click on Oxford Scholarship Online. Browse Click on one of the Subject areas to browse available titles. Search Select to limit search to Oxford Scholarship Online only. Quick Search Select to go to Advanced Search. Click on Select to limit your search to a specific subject area. Enter search terms. Advanced Search Optional. Click on down arrow to select to search a different field. 1. Enter search term(s) into one or more of the search boxes. Optional. Select an operator, i.e. And, Or, Not, to combine search terms Optional. Click to add another row to add more search terms. 2. Operators AND OR Examples risk and management user or consumer NOT crime not theft Results will return results containing both terms. will return results containing either consmer or user or both. will return results containing crime but not theft Oxford Scholarship Online automatically searches for variations of words. For example, world will find worlds, world-famous, world-soul, etc. You may also use the wildcard symbol * to widen the scope of your search, e.g. financ* will find finances, financed, financially etc. You can use the wildcard symbol ? to replace one character e.g. h?t will find hit, hot, hut, hat. Use quotation marks " " to search for phrases, e.g. "intellectual property". Use brackets ( ) to specify the order of execution of the Boolean operators in your search statement, e.g. education and (teenagers or adolescents). The terms in the brackets are processed first. Searches are case insensitive. Display Search Results Filter results by subject. Refine search results by date Select a different sort order. Change how much of the abstract is displayed for each search result. Print, save, email or bookmark a search result. Click on the title to see the abstract, the full text (if available), and the hyperlinked table of contents for the book. Select to limit results to full text access only. 2 View E-Books You can search within the displayed e-book. Enter terms in the search box. Select from options to either print, save, export to RefWorks or other software, or to email or to bookmark. Select to change text size. Click to view abstract and keywords. Click on displayed titles to go lllllllllll to corresponding section of the book. Click on the footnote number to view the corresponding reference at the end of the chapter/e-book.
