He was a fouryear starter for Auburn and was named the Division 2A MVP and a SWCL all-star. Austein-Miller has narrowed his college choices to Harvard, Yale, Brown or Columbia and one day hopes to become an orthopedic doctor specializing in sports medicine. He enjoys skiing, snowboarding, fishing, weightlifting and playing pool. His greatest sports moment was being a part of the 2005 Division 2A Super Bowl championship Auburn team that went 11-0. He is the son of Margo Austein and Steve Miller of Auburn. he 5-foot-10, 205-pound Bailey helped the Gaels send out legendary coach Archie Cataldi with a 7-4 mark this season. Bailey gained 715 yards and scored 14 touchdowns for Clinton and was named the Division 3 Defensive MVP for his work at linebacker. The tri-captain was also named team MVP and was a two-time division all-star. He said his biggest thrill was beating Division 3 Super Bowl champion Oakmont, 23-20, in triple overtime this season. He is the son of Glenn and Judith French of Clinton. John Griffin Jonathan Hernandez Emil Igwenagu Oakmont Regional Senior, Running Back Leominster High Senior, Running Back Holy Name High Senior, Running Back G he 5-foot-11, 225-pound DiMeco helped the Mountaineers to a 6-5 record this season and earned a spot on the Division 1 all-star team. DiMeco was a standout inside linebacker for Wachusett and helped limit opponents to 172 points this season, an average of 15.7 per game. The co-captain also made the T&G Super Team in indoor track after winning the shot put at the Central Mass. Championships. DiMeco enjoys lifting weights in his spare time and while he is undecided on where he will attend college, DiMeco plans to become a physical education teacher. This past season was his most memorable sports moment. He is the son of Jane and Rocco DiMeco of Holden. he 6-foot-2, 295-pound Binkoski finished his football career after playing in 42 varsity games, including a 2004 Division 3A Super Bowl victory, which he considers his most memorable sports moment. In addition to serving as the captain of the football team, Binkoski also captains the Worcester hockey team and the North baseball team. Binkoski was named to the Central Mass. all-star team last year in hockey and has played on the varsity for four years. He enjoys golfing and while he is undecided on where he wants to go to college, Binkoski hopes to become a math teacher and a coach. His sister, Jacqueline, played field hockey and softball at Burncoat from 2002-05. He is the son of Mary Ann and John Binkoski of Worcester. T riffin helped the Spartans to a 10-1 season and a Division 3 Super Bowl title, setting the school record for touchdowns in a season with 25. Griffin finished with 1,118 yards on 128 carries and 18 rushing touchdowns while adding 193 yards and four touchdowns receiving. Also a basketball and track star, Griffin won the state championship in the 100 meters last spring and the high jump at the Central Mass. Championships in 2004. He has narrowed his college choices to Northeastern and New Hampshire. His father earned a football scholarship to the University of Texas. Griffin said playing in the 2004 state basketball final is his most memorable sports moment. He is the son of Michael and Candice Carter of Fitchburg. he 5-foot-10, 180-pound Hernandez is a two-time Division 1 MVP and this year led Central Mass. in rushing with a school-record 2,099 yards on 254 carries while scoring 22 touchdowns. Last season, Hernandez was third in Central Mass. with 1,507 rushing yards. This year, Hernandez tied his school scoring record of 140 points while helping the Blue Devils to the Division 1 Super Bowl for the second consecutive season. His most memorable sports moments were beating Fitchburg on three straight Thanksgivings. Hernandez is undecided on what college to attend but hopes to study to become an athletic trainer while continuing to play football. He is the son of Luz and Cesar Batallas of Leominster. he 6-foot-1, 210-pound Igwenagu, who led the Naps to their second consecutive Division 2 Super Bowl victory this season, was third in Central Mass. rushing with a schoolrecord 1,772 yards on just 129 carries — an average of 13.3 yards per run. Igwenagu scored 20 rushing touchdowns this year after a successful junior season when he gained 1,063 yards and scored seven times. Igwenagu was named to the Division 2 all-star team for the past two years and was the MVP this season. Igwenagu wants to study business or pre-med in college. His brothers, Bryan and Brent, played football for West Boylston from 2003-04. He is the son of Josephine Igwenagu and Emil Igwenagu of Boylston. Bryant Johnson Donny Lemieux Kevin Quaranto Milford High Senior, Quarterback Gardner High Senior, Specialist St. John’s High Senior, Tight End A two-time T&G Super Teamer, Johnson led the Scarlet Hawks to consecutive Division 1A Super Bowl berths, culminating with a 20-0 win over South Hadley. Johnson was the Division 1A MVP for the second consecutive season after throwing for a Central Mass.-high 1,868 yards and 17 touchdowns and led lastminute wins over Marlboro and Leominster this season in addition to throwing for a school-record five touchdowns against St. Peter-Marian. Johnson is also a standout point guard for the Scarlet Hawks, making the Mid-Wach A all-star team and earning team MVP honors last year. He also was named to the Mid-Wach all-star team in baseball last year. Johnson enjoys playing video games in his spare time and plans to study business in college. He is the son of Cheryl and Paul Johnson of Milford. T he 5-foot-11, 185-pound Lemieux is regarded as one of the top kickers in Central Mass., having wrapped up his career with multiple school records, including longest field goal (48 yards), most field goals in career (17) and season (7), most extra points in a career (88) and season (33) and most kickoffs for touchbacks (93). He is undecided on college plans, but is looking at Holy Cross, UMass, Southern Mississippi, Toledo, Wisconsin and Rhode Island. His father is the longtime swim coach at Gardner High and the Greenwood Swim Club and was a basketball standout at Springfield College from 1975-79. His most memorable sports moment is booting a 48-yard field goal this year against Doherty. He is the son of Patty and Don Lemieux of Gardner. T Carlos Sanchez David Teggart John Tozer Millbury High Senior, Wide Receiver Algonquin Regional Senior, Specialist Holy Name High Junior, Offensive Line T he 5-foot-7, 150-pound Sanchez is making his second consecutive Super Team appearance after helping the Woolies to an 8-3 record with 34 receptions for 516 yards. He was named to the Division 2A all-star team this season. Last year, Sanchez had 45 catches for 928 yards and 11 touchdowns. Sanchez won the Chowder Bowl MVP and is a captain of the football, basketball and baseball teams at Millbury. Sanchez enjoys drawing, dancing, making music and playing sports, and while he is undecided on where he will attend college, he hopes to open his own business after getting his degree. He is the son of Jodi and Rigo Sanchez of Millbury. T he 6-foot-1, 210-pound Teggart finished his career as the school record-holder with a 47-yard field goal and earned a full athletic scholarship to kick at the University of Connecticut. Teggart was good on seven on his nine field goal attempts this year, making four from 40 yards or farther. Teggart is a three-time winner of the special teams award at Algonquin and was a member of the state championship baseball team last spring and earned a spot on the Mid-Wach A all-star team. Teggart’s father kicked at the University of New Hampshire and booted a school-record 53-yard field goal there. Teggart says the scholarship to UConn and the baseball championship are his two greatest sports accomplishments. He is the son of Joyce and Dave Teggart of Northboro. T he 6-foot-3, 235-pound Quaranto helped the Pioneers win three consecutive Super Bowls. He is also a three-year member of the varsity hockey and baseball teams, and recently signed a baseball scholarship to attend Siena where he will study management and marketing. Quaranto led the Pioneers with 594 yards on 41 catches while scoring one touchdown — which was the winning score in the Pioneers’ 24-19 comeback win over St. John’s Prep, a game he tabbed his most memorable sports moment. Quaranto enjoys playing hockey and baseball and hanging out with friends in his spare time. His father played hockey at Quinnipiac while his sister played field hockey at Babson. He is the son of Jeanne and Joseph Quaranto of Hopkinton. T he 6-foot-3, 305-pound Tozer was one of the main reasons the Naps were able to win consecutive Division 2 Super Bowls and have a staggering four 1,000-yard rushers over the past two seasons. Tozer blocked for fellow Super Teamers Emil Igwenagu (1,772 yards) and Wally Derosier (1,222 yards) and was named to the Division 2 all-star team. As the left tackle, Tozer was responsible for many of the key blocks in the difficult double-wing offense of coach Mike Pucko. Tozer helped the Naps to a 12-0 record this season and a 36-8 Super Bowl win over Mount Greylock. The first-ever Super Bowl win in 2004 was his most memorable sports moment. He is the son of Judy and Mark Tozer of Worcester. Kyle Anderson Michael Chamberlain Ray Davis Oakmont Regional Senior, Defensive Back Athol High Senior, Defensive Back South High Senior, Specialist T he 6-foot, 190-pound captain led from his free safety and quarterback positions for coach Dave Laroche’s 11-1 Spartans. Anderson was part of a defense that held opponents to 8.3 points per game, including a 28-0 shutout of Frontier Regional in the Division 3 Super Bowl. Anderson was a dual threat on offense, throwing for 670 yards and seven touchdowns and rushing for 733 yards and 12 scores. He set the school record for career touchdown passes with 21. Anderson was a T&G divisional all-star in football and basketball last year. Anderson lists his most memorable sports moment as being this year’s Super Bowl win. His father played basketball in the Boston Shootout, and brother Nate is on the Keene State basketball team. He is the son of Kathy and Mitch Anderson of Westminster. T he 6-foot, 188-pound captain is a two-time Intercounty League and All-Western Mass. all-star. He led coach Rocky Stone’s Red Raiders to a 9-2 record and second-place league finish. Chamberlain ran for 1,587 yards and 26 touchdowns and was the leading scorer in the area with 172 points. The senior established records for rushing yards and scoring this season. He is a four-year member of the Athol football and baseball teams. Chamberlain enjoys playing cards in his spare time and is looking forward to continuing his football career in college. He won the Thanksgiving MVP in 2005 and ’06, with this year’s 52-19 win over Mahar being his most memorable sports moment. He is the son of Veronica Chamberlain of Athol. T Wally Derosier IV Shaun Doherty Brian Flumere Holy Name High Senior, Linebacker North Middlesex Regional Senior, Linebacker Milford High Senior, Defensive Back D T he 6-foot, 185-pound captain was productive with his arm, legs and foot for coach Jerry Snay’s 12-0 Colonels. His booming punts and kickoffs were a defensive weapon for South, constantly pinning the opposition deep in its own territory. Davis was the leader under center, completing 52 of 91 passes for 1,155 yards and nine touchdowns. He scored 60 points on 2 touchdown runs, 5 field goals, 29 extra points and 2 two-point conversions. Named the Division 3A MVP this season, he was a divisional all-star as a junior. Davis is undecided about his college destination, but has been accepted to Pittsburgh and RPI and looks to study engineering. Winning the Super Bowl to cap an undefeated season is his most memorable sports moment. He is the son of Debra and Raymond Davis of Worcester. T erosier was a mainstay for coach Mike Pucko’s back-to-back Super Bowl champions at linebacker and running back. The 6-foot, 205-pound senior backboned a defense that allowed 9.8 points per game in a 12-0 season. Derosier was also a force on offense, rushing for 1,222 yards on 107 carries (11.4 yards per carry) and 14 touchdowns in earning Division 2 all-star honors. He capped his senior season scoring two touchdowns against Wachusett on Thanksgiving and 86 yards on seven carries against Mount Greylock in the Super Bowl. A three-year member of the football team, Derosier also competes in baseball and indoor track for the Naps. His most memorable sports moment is going undefeated and winning the Super Bowl. He is the son of Kelley and Walter Derosier of Shrewsbury. he 6-foot-1, 180-pound linebacker was a force for coach John Margarita’s Patriots. Doherty led a defense that allowed 13.4 points per game on the way to a third-place tie in Division 1 and an 8-3 record. Doherty also was an important piece of the Patriots’ wishbone offense, running for 566 yards and five touchdowns. He lists working out as his hobby. The Division 1 all-star is a four-year member of the football team and also plays hockey and lacrosse for the Patriots. He is looking to attend Nichols or Worcester State and study business. His most memorable sports moment is his 15-yard touchdown run against Nashoba on Thanksgiving this year. He is the son of Christine and James Doherty of Townsend. he 6-foot-1, 190-pound captain was more known for his offensive exploits, but he was a punishing defensive player for coach John Dagnese’s squad. Flumere led the Scarlet Hawks to an 11-1 record and a return trip to the Super Bowl, this time returning home with a 20-0 win over South Hadley. As a running back, Flumere finished with 1,146 yards and 20 touchdowns this season, 2,251 yards and 39 TDs over the past two seasons. He capped his senior season with a 153-yard, two-touchdown performance in the Super Bowl. He is undecided about his college plans but would like to become a coach. Going undefeated in the league this season and shutting out the team that beat them in the 2005 Super Bowl are his most memorable sports moments. He is the son of Janet and Brian Flumere of Milford. Tyson Garcia Michael Gentili Andrew Moss Shepherd Hill Regional Senior, Linebacker Leominster High Senior, Linebacker Auburn High Senior, Linebacker G arcia was the spark for coach Chris Lindstrom’s 10-1 Rams on offense and defense. At linebacker, Garcia spearheaded a defense that gave up 12.9 points per game. He was named the Division 2 Offensive MVP for his 1,138 rushing yards, a school-record 9.1 yards per carry and 18 touchdowns. He finished the season with 108 points. Voted as the MVP of the Rams, Garcia was a member of the football team for four years. Garcia has strong family football ties as his grandfather was all-state in Vermont, his father was on the 1973 Super Team, and his uncle, Tony Garcia, was a T&G All-Star in 1975. Undecided about his college plans, he is the son of Christine and Michael Garcia of Charlton. T he 5-foot-11, 205-pound captain was named the Division 1 Defensive MVP. The senior led coach John Dubzinski’s 8-4 Blue Devils to back-to-back Division 1 titles while setting the school record for tackles in a season. A four-year member of the football team, he has also been a part of the successful Blue Devils’ hockey program that has been to a Central Mass. final and has won a league championship. He lists reading and long walks on the beach as his favorite off-field activities. He may be unsure about his college plans, but he is sure that defeating Fitchburg on Thanksgiving for three straight seasons provided his most memorable sports moments. T Bobby Sansoucy Joe Young Nick Yurovich St. Peter-Marian High Senior, Linebacker St. John’s High Senior, Defensive Line Marlboro High Senior, Defensive Back T he 5-foot-8 160-pound captain was the glue that held the Guardians together. A two-time Central Mass. Conference All-Star, Sansoucy was the leader of coach Justin Ball’s defense. On offense, the senior ran for 1,125 yards and five touchdowns out of the Guardians’ Wing-T offense. He received the Hazelhurst Award on Thanksgiving as the team’s MVP and the Jimmy Scavone Award as the Homecoming MVP. He enjoys playing sports in his spare time and is a member of the SPM baseball and indoor track teams. Though undecided about his college plans, Sansoucy hopes to get a degree in criminal justice or engineering and work for the FBI. His most memorable sports moment was rushing for more than 100 yards in the Homecoming game. He is the son of Linda and Mark Sansoucy of Worcester. The senior captain had 47 first-hit tackles and seven sacks to lead a defense that allowed just 11 points per game. Young was a Division 1 all-star as a junior and a senior and earned the Corsac Award for being the Thanksgiving Day MVP. Young was a bruising fullback on offense for coach John Andreoli, rushing for 411 yards — 7.4 per carry. His most memorable sports moments were winning three straight Super Bowls, including this year’s 20-14 Division 1AA overtime win over Minnechaug to cap a 9-3 season. In his spare time, Young enjoys playing basketball and weightlifting. He will be attending Yale University with aspirations to become a doctor. He is the son of Dr. Russell and Nancy Young of Shrewsbury. he 5-foot-10 160-pound Moss was all over the field for coach Jeff Cormier’s Rockets, earning Division 2A Defensive MVP honors. The captain led Auburn to a 9-2 record and back-to-back Super Bowl appearances. On offense, Moss lined up at tailback where he picked up 496 yards and eight touchdowns in forming a strong 1-2 punch with Rene Gibree. A four-year member of the football team, Moss also is a member of the Rockets’ baseball and indoor track squads. He enjoys the outdoors, with hunting, fishing, snowboarding and snowball fights on the list. He is unsure about where he is going to college, but he wants to study pharmacy. Going undefeated and winning the Super Bowl in 2005 is his most memorable sports moment. He is the son of Margaret and Kevin Moss of Auburn. T he 5-foot-8, 165-pound captain provided a lot for coach Sean Mahoney’s 8-3 Panthers. Yurovich was a strong defensive back, following in the footsteps of his father, who was an All-Ohio safety in 1980. Offensively, he gave headaches to opposing defensive coordinators with his versatility at quarterback. He was 54 of 113 for 1,037 yards and 12 touchdowns and added 909 yards and eight TDs rushing. He enjoys working out, playing X-Box and relaxing with friends in his spare time. Yurovich is undecided about his college plans but hopes to own and manage a restaurant. His most memorable sports moment is earning the Offensive MVP award in Marlboro’s shutout of rival Hudson on Thanksgiving. He is the son of Dan and Becky Yurovich of Marlboro. Michael Cobill Bryant Craft Kevin Frechette St. John’s High Senior, Striker St. Peter-Marian High Junior, Midfielder Wachusett Regional Senior, Midfielder A repeat selection to the Super Team, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound Cobill moved from sweeper to striker this season. He amassed a Central Mass. Conference-high 25 points with 17 goals and eight assists, leading the Pioneers to a 18-2 record in the regular season and to the Central Mass. Division 1 semifinals. A team captain, Cobill earned league and CMass all-star honors for the second straight year, as well as earning all-state and All-New England recognition. Cobill was also a conference all-star in basketball last year, and is currently captain of the St. John’s team. Cobill enjoys sports, music and science, and hopes to continue playing soccer in college, where he plans to major in biology. He’s the son of Pamela and John Cobill of West Boylston. A 5-foot-8, 135-pounder, Craft is making his first appearance on the Super Team after a successful season in which the Guardians just missed the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament with an 8-9 record. Craft led St. Peter-Marian in scoring and was fourth in the Central Mass. Conference, accumulating 14 goals and two assists for 16 points. The Guardians’ captain, Craft earned Central Mass. all-star honors for the second straight year. Craft participates in the prestigious Massachusetts Olympic Development Program, and cites making the team as his most memorable moment in sports. A three-year member of the varsity, Craft plans to continue playing soccer in college and aspires to turn pro. He’s the son of Karon Craft of Worcester. N Spencer Grams Brian Henderson Andrew Henshaw Algonquin Regional Senior, Midfielder Bartlett High Senior, Forward Marlboro High Senior, Sweeper T A amed the Mountaineers’ and Mid-Wach A’s Most Valuable Player, the 5-foot-9, 170-pound Frechette made his first Super Team after leading Wachusett to a 12-4-3 season and a No. 5 seed in the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament. The captain for coach Skip Knight’s squad, Frechette was a quintessential center midfielder this season, scoring seven goals and setting up another nine for 16 points, which tied him for third in the league and made him an all-state selection. Behind Frechette, the Mountaineers beat Division 1 juggernauts St. John’s and Algonquin in the same week, a feat he lists as his favorite in sports. Frechette has also played three years of lacrosse for Wachusett and will captain the team this spring after running track for the first time this winter. T he 5-foot-10, 170-pound Grams makes his first appearance on the Super Team after helping lead the Tomahawks to their third straight Division 1 state final. A four-year varsity player, Grams was part of Algonquin’s back-to-back title teams in 2004 and 2005. This season, the team captain and central midfielder propelled Algonquin to a 17-5-1 record, along the way capturing a third straight CMass title. Grams had one goal and a Central Mass.-best 15 assists during the regular season, earning the team’s Most Valuable Player award and garnering CMass all-star honors. A four-year member of the Tomahawks’ basketball team, Grams is a team captain this season. He enjoys fishing and playing the drums, and hopes to study secondary education at Keene State next fall. He’s the son of Elizabeth and Bruce Grams of Northboro. fter making the Super Team last season, the 6-foot, 165-pound Henderson wanted to ensure a repeat selection as a senior. To that end, Henderson absolutely did it all for Bartlett. Not only did he lead Central Mass. in scoring with 33 goals and 14 assists (47 points) during the regular season, he led the Indians to an 18-3-2 record, helping the team capture the Central Mass. Division 3 title. Henderson also helped bring home the state title with a 1-0 win over Lynnfield, scoring the winning goal on a free kick with just 12 seconds left, which he cites as his most memorable moment in sports. Henderson finished his career at Bartlett with the school record for goals in a season and career (87), earning All-New England honors. He’s the son of Margie and Rex Henderson of Webster. he team and league Most Valuable Player, the 6-foot, 190-pound Henshaw anchored a Marlboro defense that allowed no goals in league games as the Panthers took the Mid-Wach B title with an 8-0 record. Henshaw also led Marlboro to a 16-4-1 mark, garnering a No. 2 seed and advancing to the Central Mass. Division 1 final. He scored the winning penalty kick in the semifinal win over St. John’s, which he cites as his most memorable sports moment. The team captain, Henshaw earned league and Central Mass. all-star honors, and was named all-state and All-New England. A four-year member of the varsity, Henshaw would like to continue playing in college and eventually play soccer professionally, like his father did in Nigeria and with the New England Revolution. Erik Lekstrom Josh Lyvers Andrew Powell Leicester High Senior, Midfielder Bromfield School Junior, Forward St. John’s High Junior, Midfielder A A W Nick Prunier Matthew Touhey Maarten van Ess Douglas High Sophomore, Forward Nipmuc Regional Senior, Defense Marlboro High Junior, Midfielder divisional all-star the last two seasons, the 5-foot-7, 149-pound Lekstrom is making his first appearance on the Super Team. He led the Wolverines to the SWCL West title at 11-1 and a 21-2 overall record as Leicester captured the Central Mass. Division 2 crown for the first time and advanced to the state title game. A SWCL and Central Mass. all-star, collecting 16 goals and eight assists during the regular season, Lekstrom finished his career at Leicester as the school’s all-time leading goal scorer. His favorite goal was his game-winner in the CMass semifinal against Oakmont with just two minutes left. A four-year starter and former all-state selection, Lekstrom plans to study finance or business in college. He’s the son of Brenda and David Lekstrom of Leicester. A four-year member of the varsity though only a sophomore, the 5-foot-6, 130-pound Prunier earned his first appearance on the Super Team after making the divisional team last season. With 20 goals and seven assists during the regular season, Prunier was the leading scorer in the Dual Valley Conference for the third straight year, was named league Player of the Year and garnered allstate honors for the first time. He was named a league all-star for the third straight year, and a Central Mass. all-star for the second. Behind Prunier’s scoring, the Tigers went 11-7 and advanced to the semifinals of the Central Mass. Division 3 Tournament. With his club team, the Greater Boston Bolts, Prunier won a state title this year, which he cites as his favorite sports moment. In the ’05 state final, Lyvers scored in double overtime to secure the crown for Bromfield, a feat he cites as his most memorable sports moment. The leading scorer in Mid-Wach C with 20 goals and 10 assists during the regular season, Lyvers was named all-state, All-Central Mass. and all-league for a third straight year. His goal for next season is to break the school record for career goals, 75. He currently has 47. Lyvers also plays basketball for the Trojans and is currently in his third varsity season. He’s the son of Nina and Mark Lyvers of Harvard. T he Warriors’ team captain and Most Valuable Player, the 5-foot-11, 157-pound Touhey helped lead Nipmuc to a secondplace finish in the Dual Valley Conference with a 9-2-1 record. Touhey’s Warriors also compiled a 14-5-2 mark en route to the Central Mass. Division 2 final, where they lost to eventual state runner-up Leicester. He was also part of Nipmuc’s CMass title last season — the Warriors winning in double overtime — an experience Touhey cites as his most memorable moment in sports. A DVC and Central Mass. all-star, Touhey anchored the Warriors’ impressive defense this season. Touhey also played varsity baseball for the Warriors last year and will do so again this spring. Next fall Touhey is headed to Worcester State, where he plans to work toward a career in law enforcement. He’s the son of Paula and William Touhey of Mendon. ith 12 goals and six assists during the regular season, the 6-foot-1, 160-pound Powell makes his first appearance on the Super Team after helping lead the Pioneers to a 17-5 record and a berth in the Central Mass. Powell also plays soccer in the Massachusetts Premier League, where his Juventus USA squad has earned trips to the state finals in 2002, 2003 and 2006, which he lists among his most memorable sports moments. A multi-talented athlete, Powell was also part of the Pioneers’ Central Mass. champion indoor and outdoor track teams last year, and placed eighth in the Central Mass. decathlon. A member of the National Honor Society, Powell enjoys snowboarding and golf in his spare time. He’s the son of Joanne and Richard Powell of Charlton. T he third-leading scorer in MidWach B during the regular season with nine goals and six assists, the 6-foot-3, 160-pound van Ess earns his first appearance on the Super Team. One of two Panthers to make the T&G team, van Ess played central midfield for a Marlboro team that not only went undefeated in the league, but didn’t allow a single league goal. Led by van Ess, the Panthers finished 16-4-1 after advancing to the Central Mass. Division 1 final. He was named a Mid-Wach B all-star for the second consecutive year, and earned AllCentral Mass. and all-state honors for the first time. A three-year member of the varsity, van Ess also plays basketball for the Panthers. He hopes to play soccer at a Division 1 college and would like to eventually play professionally in Europe. A repeat selection to the soccer Super Team, Benoit is captain of the girls’ basketball team at Shrewsbury this winter and plays for the lacrosse squad in the spring. Her most memorable sports moments include being on the field when her younger sister scored the first goal of her high school career and having her grandfather in the stands for each of her games. She enjoys reading, practicing sports and listening to music in her spare time and hopes to pursue a career in business or engineering. She is the daughter of Annemarie Hurley and Robert Benoit of Shrewsbury. A fter spending her first three years of high school in Arizona, Chirsky made a quick mark for a Rockets squad that advanced to the Central Mass. Division 2 final. The 5-foot-4 forward made her biggest mark in a semifinal game, scoring three times in less than 10 minutes to help fourth-seeded Auburn tip top-ranked Uxbridge, a moment she lists as her most memorable in sports. While in Arizona, Chirsky was a member of the state champion soccer team as a sophomore and the state runner-up squad as a freshman. She plans to stay in the New England area for college — she is eyeing Northeastern, UConn and URI as possible destinations — in the hopes of becoming a pharmacist. Division 1 semifinal was exceptionally key in a tournament victory. Friday assisted on both of Algonquin’s regulation goals and also scored during the penalty-kick phase for a 3-2 win over Westboro, a game she lists as her most memorable sports moment. The 5-foot-6 Friday was named the MidWach A League MVP this season and also a Central Mass. all-star. The honors marked the third time she has earned Central Mass. and league all-star status in soccer. She is captain on the girls’ basketball team this winter, a sport where she earned league all-star status last season. Her father played hockey for the Detroit Red Wings. She is the daughter of Beth and Tim Friday of Southboro. T he 5-foot-6 captain earned her second straight Central Mass. Conference all-star selection while playing for coach Paul Keating’s squad. She added to her list of accomplishments this season, though, by also picking up the coach’s All-Star Award. To continue the storybook season, Gagliastre also scored her first varsity goal. She lists that tally as one of her most memorable sports moments, along with making the varsity team and starting as a freshman. Also a member of the Guardians’ indoor track team, she enjoys running and playing softball in her spare time. Gagliastre is undecided about which college she will attend, but hopes to continue playing soccer there. She is the daughter of Karen and Joe Gagliastre of Worcester. he 5-foot-6 Janda helped anchor a Lions’ defense that was key in the team’s run to a Division 3 state title. Coach Paul Mumby’s squad was virtually perfect, going 21-0-2. Janda lists winning the state final to cap off an undefeated season as her most memorable sports moment. A divisional all-star last year, Janda is making her first Super Team appearance. She served as team captain and was selected as Mid-Wach D all-star. Also a member of the varsity basketball and outdoor track squads at West Boylston, Janda enjoys playing soccer, going to concerts and making friends in her spare time. She is undecided about her future beyond attending college. She is the daughter of Judy and Robert Janda of Sterling. he 5-foot-3 defender helped get coach Doug Freeman’s squad to the state semifinal for the second consecutive year, unfortunately dropping a 4-3 decision to Ludlow there. Her senior season capped a solid three-year run in whcih she received team MVP, league all-star and Central Mass. all-star nods. Out of all those honors, though, she lists winning the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament the past two seasons as her most memorable moments in sports. A return Super Team member, Rae also plays on the basketball and tennis teams for the Panthers. In her free time, she enjoys eating, reading, hanging out with friends and watching movies. She is unsure where she will attend college but plans on studying criminal justice. Tyler Rainer Kylie Ricker Brittany Schandelmayer Marlboro High Senior, Midfielder/Forward Nashoba Regional Senior, Forward Nashoba Regional Senior, Midfielder/Forward T he 5-foot-10 two-year captain was one of the biggest reasons for the Panthers’ run to the Central Mass. Division 1 title this season. She came up exceptionally big in the final of that tournament, tying the game, 1-1, to give her team momentum en route to a 3-1 defeat of top-seeded Shrewsbury. She earned the coach’s award this season and captured her third straight league all-star honor and second straight all-conference selection. A divisional all-star last season for soccer, Rainer also earned the Panthers’ basketball team’s unsung hero award as a sophomore and junior. In her spare time, Rainer enjoys photography, swimming, writing and painting. She is undecided about where she will attend college, but plans to pursue a pre-med discipline. She is the daughter of Katherine and Greg Rainer of Marlboro. T he 5-foot-7 Ricker closed her high school career with the ultimate honor, being named an AllAmerican, one of only three girls to receive the honor in the state. She also leaves with many school records — career goals (93), career points (112), single-season goals (30) and single-season points (41). A Super Team member in 2004, she returns to the team after being a divisional all-star last year. Despite all the individual accolades, her most memorable sports moment is still when the Chieftains won a state title in 2004. She was league MVP this season, adding that to her four straight league and Central Mass. all-star selections. She will attend the University of Maryland next fall to study law and continue playing soccer. She is the daughter of Cathy and Ley Ricker of Leominster. A Lindsay Schmitt Elizabeth Welch Katie Whiting Nipmuc Regional Senior, Fullback/Midfielder Senior, Midfielder West Boylston High Wachusett Regional Senior, Forward T he 5-foot-7 Schmitt was key to the Warriors’ earning their second straight Division 2 state title. Her overtime goal on a header gave Nipmuc a 2-1 win in this year’s final over Cardinal Spellman, the moment she lists as her most memorable. She also scored in her team’s 2-0 state semifinal win over SouthwickTolland Regional. She earned team MVP honors this season to go along with Dual Valley Conference and Central Mass. all-star selections. In her spare time, Schmitt enjoys hanging out with friends and listening to music, while also participating in both indoor and outdoor track for Nipmuc. She is undecided on where she will go to college, but plans to focus on studying something in the science field. She is the daughter of Tracy Anderson and Ken Schmitt of Mendon. She was one of three captains this season, and was one of five senior starters on the team. Both a league and Central Mass. all-star this season, Welch joins the Super Team for the first time after being a divisional all-star last season. She spends much of her free time playing soccer and dancing, and plans to attend college, though has not yet chosen a destination. During the 2004 campaign, the Chieftains won a state title and the Central Mass. She served as captain this season and also plays on the Nashoba basketball team. She continues her athletic prowess in her spare time, spending most of it playing soccer and basketball and swimming. T he 5-foot-2 Whiting makes a return to the Super Team, having earned the honor in 2004 and being a divisional all-star last year. She really made her presence known in that sophomore campaign, earning team MVP honors after leading the Mid-Wach A in scoring. It was even earlier than that, though, when Whiting had her most memorable sports moment, playing under the lights in her freshman season. Christopher Betschart Sean Duncan Will Faden Christopher Funch Hopedale High Sophomore Gardner High Senior Grafton High Sophomore Groton-Dunstable Regional Senior T he 5-foot-10, 120-pound Betschart is making his first appearance on the Super Team after his 15:30, third-place finish in the Division 2 race at the Central Mass. Championships helped the Blue Raiders capture their second straight team title. Betschart went on to finish 13th at the state meet as Hopedale finished second to Swampscott, an accomplisment he ranks one of his more memorable sports moments alongside the Blue Raiders’ 2005 state championship season. A two-time DVC all-star, Betschart lists basketball and baseball among his interests. He is the son of Anne and Doug Betschart of Hopedale. T he 6-foot, 140-pound Duncan is making his first appearance on a T&G Super Team after his runner-up finish in the Central Mass. Championships Division 1 race (14:56), as the Wildcats placed second to St. John’s. He finished 31st at the state meet as Gardner placed 11th. Duncan, a seven-time Mid-Wach B all-star in cross country, indoor and outdoor track, led the Wildcats to the Class B title at the Wachusett Invitational earlier in the season. A two-time team captain, Duncan anchored Gardner’s 4 x mile relay team at track nationals his sophomore year, a feat he ranks as his most memorable sports moment. Duncan plans to study sports management and run cross country and track at UMass or the University of New Hampshire next year. He is the son of Robin and David Duncan of Gardner. T he 5-foot-10, 141-pound Faden finished in 15:43 and placed seventh in the Division 2 race at the Central Mass. Championships to earn a spot on his first T&G Super Team. He went on to place 17th at the state meet in his first appearance at the event. The top runner this season for coach Peter Gleason’s squad, Faden will also run indoor and outdoor track for the Indians this year. Faden competed at the Nike Indoor National meet last winter, an experience he ranks as his most memorable sports moment. Joseph Jarvis Garrett Malouin North Middlesex Regional Junior Blackstone-Millville Regional Senior Hopedale High Senior Fitchburg High Senior T T he 5-foot-9, 140-pound Hausherr ran away from the field in the Division 1 race at the Central Mass. Championships, whisking to a 14:46 over the 2.9-mile layout in Gardner to win his first district title, a feat he lists as his most memorable sports moment. Hausherr was the top local finisher at the Division 1 state meet, placing 13th in 16:35 over the 5-kilometer course at Northfield Mountain. Earlier this season, Hausherr dominated the Class A race at the Wachusett Invitational, winning by 20 seconds. A T&G indoor track all-star in the 2-mile last winter, Hausherr served as cross country captain this season and was named MVP of coach Ed Pancoast’s squad. In his spare time, Hausherr enjoys listening to music and using the computer. He is the son of Nancy and Steven Hausherr of Townsend. T he 5-foot-11, 150-pound Hill won the Division 2 race at the Central Mass. Championships in 15:01 over Gardner’s undulating 2.9-mile layout, leading the Chargers to a second-place finish and a berth at the state meet. Hill finished second in the Division 2 state race at Northfield Mountain as BMR placed 14th. A four-time T&G all-star, Hill won the Bay State Invitational earlier this season, a feat he lists as his most memorable sports moment. Hill, who holds course records at BMR and Nipmuc, will attend UMassAmherst, where he plans to study history and continue his running career. In his spare time, Hill enjoys eating and traveling with his family. He is the son of Jane and Donald Hill of Blackstone. he 5-foot-6, 120-pound Jarvis ran 15:38 to place fifth in the Central Mass. Championships Division 2 race as the Blue Raiders repeated as team champions. Jarvis finished 27th at the state meet, as Hopedale placed second to Swampscott. A team captain, Jarvis was part of the Blue Raiders’ state championship team in 2005, an accomplishment he ranks as his most memorable sports moment. Jarvis plans to attend Bridgewater State in the fall and hopes to serve in the military after college. In his spare time, he enjoys shooting and canoeing. He is the son of Jaci and Harry Jarvis of Hopedale. he 5-foot-7, 135-pound Funch, a repeat T&G Super Teamer, placed third for the second straight season in the Central Mass. Championships Division 1 race, clocking 14:59 over the 2.9-mile layout at Gardner Municipal Golf Course, a feat he ranks among his most memorable sports moments along with being a member of the Crusaders squad that placed third at the 2004 state meet. Funch, a team captain, finished 34th at the state meet this season. He holds the course record at Quabbin Regional and was named the Most Valuable Runner for coach Ken Magliozzi’s squad this season. In his spare time, Funch enjoys snowboarding and playing ultimate Frisbee. He hopes to study psychology, education or engineering next year in college. He is the son of Donnie and Paul Funch of Groton. T he 5-foot-9, 135 pound Malouin is making his first appearance on the Super Team after a 15:09, seventhplace finish in the Division 1 race at the Central Mass. Championships. The No. 1 runner for coach Chris Woods’ team this season, Malouin finished 55th at the state meet, a 31-place improvement from 2005. A team captain and MVP, Malouin finished second at the Mid-Wach A meet and seventh in the Class A meet at the Wachusett Invitational earlier this season. Last winter, Malouin finished 10th in the 1,000 at the all-state indoor track championships, a feat he lists as his most memorable sports moment. In his spare time, Malouin enjoys biking and is interested in cars. He is the son of Diane and Dwayne Malouin of Fitchburg. Arleigh McRae Colin Ogilvie Nicholas Santoro David Prouty High Freshman Hopedale High Junior St. John’s High Senior T he 5-foot-10, 140-pound McRae was the top freshman finisher in the Division 2 race at the Central Mass. Championships, placing fourth. McRae, who is home-schooled but represents the Panthers, was also named a SWCL all-star this season and finished 17th at the state meet. He holds course records at Northbridge and David Prouty, the latter an accomplishment he has in common with older sister Calista, now an Amherst College sophomore. McRae’s mother was a nationally ranked triathlete in the 1980s. In his spare time, McRae is involved in his church’s youth group and enjoys playing the cello. He is the son of Claire and John McRae of East Brookfield. A repeat T&G Super Teamer, the 5-foot-10, 126-pound Ogilvie was the top finisher for coach Joe Drugan’s squad in the Central Mass. Championships Division 2 race, running 15:18 to finish second while leading the Blue Raiders to their second straight team title. Ogilvie placed fifth at the state meet as Hopedale finished second to Swampscott as a team. Saviet, whose season was limited to three races because of a stress reaction, finished 22nd at the state meet — a 10-place improvement from 2005 — for the runner-up Pioneers. A team captain and four-time Super Teamer (cross country, indoor and outdoor track), Saviet was district champion in the 1,000 meters last winter, as well as in the mile last spring. He was also part of the Pioneers’ winning 1,600-meter relay team at last winter’s all-state meet. Saviet’s older brother, Benjamin, runs track at Providence College. Saviet is the son of Patricia and Mark Saviet of Sutton. T he 5-foot-6, 135-pound Tieuli is making his first appearance on a Super Team after a 15:05, fifth-place finish in the Division 1 race at the Central Mass. Championships, helping St. John’s to a title repeat. Tieuli was the Pioneers’ top finisher at the state meet — an accomplishment he ranks as his most memorable sports moment — as St. John’s finished second to Brockton. Turco finished 38th at the state meet as Hopedale placed second. Turco was part of the Blue Raiders’ 2005 state championship team, an accomplishment he lists as his most memorable sports moment. Division 1 Championships (2.9 miles, 18:44.3). She received the coaches’ award last season in cross country and was North Middlesex’s MVP as a freshman and sophomore. Conner likes to participate in soccer, basketball and snowboarding. She would like to attend the University of New Hampshire, where she hopes to study to health science and become a nutritionist. Conner lists finishing 26th in the Division 1 state meet and qualifying for the state meet with her sister, during the last year they were able to run together, as her most memorable sports moments. She is the daughter of Candice and Timothy Conner of Townsend. T he 5-foot-3 Conner was named team co-MVP this season after winning the Mid-Wach A meet and finishing second at the Quabbin Invitational and the Central Mass. Division 1 Championships, covering Gardner Municipal’s 2.9-mile layout in 18:11.1. She also finished ninth in the Bay State Invitational Division 1 race. As a sophomore, she set the outdoor track 800-meter record (2:21). When she isn’t running cross country or track, Conner plays on the varsity basketball team and enjoys snowboarding. T he 5-foot-4 Crowley finished sixth at the Central Mass. Division 2 title (16:48 at Gardner), then the state championship (18.49) at Northfield Mountain. She followed that by finishing ninth at the Footlocker Northeast Regionals in New York, then placed 25th at the nationals in San Diego. She led the Trojans to a thirdplace finish at the Brown Invitational in East Greenwich, R.I., by placing first (17:49). As a freshman, Jones won the CMass title, running the Gardner course in 17:31.7, placed 10th in the state meet. Jones lists winning back-to-back state titles as one of her most memorable sports moments. She finished fourth at the CMass Division 2 meet at Gardner (17:42) and sixth, at the state meet. As a junior, Ives was second at districts and sixth at states. Ives played varsity soccer as a freshman and a sophomore at Bromfield. In her spare time, she likes to do needlepoint. Ives is participating with the indoor and outdoor track teams for the rest of this year. She lists the top-five sweep of the Central Mass. Division 2 meet by the Trojans as one of her most memorable sports moments. Ives is still undecided about college. She is the daughter of Laura Martineau and David Ives of Harvard. T K he 13-year-old Landry, an eighth-grader at Turkey Hill Middle School, finished sixth in the Central Mass. Division 2 meet (18:00.8) to help the Blue Knights to a third-place finish. She placed 11th the following week at the state meet at Northfield Mountain. Landry likes hanging out with friends when she’s not running. She aspires to receive a scholarship for running and academics at a four-year university and hopes to become either a professional runner or personal trainer. Landry lists the feeling of success after completing a race, and practicing and running with her teammates in the fields as her most memorable sports moments. She is the daughter of JoAnne and Brian Landry of Lunenburg. obayashi is making her first Super Team appearance after finishing sixth in the Central Mass. Division 2 meet (18:33.7), helping the Crusaders to a secondplace finish and a berth in the state meet. In the state meet, she finished 44th (21:02) as WC placed eighth overall. She has also participated in the 1,000-meter run in indoor track. She enjoys reading, playing video games and print making, and aspires to become a dentist. Kobayashi lists running at the Brown Invitational as her most memorable sports moment because of the condition of the course and the fun she had afterward. Division 2 meet (18:51.3), improving from her 13th-place performance last year under coach Henry Phelan. She was part of the 3,200-meter relay team (9:58.34) that won at the CMass outdoor championships, and took third in the 600 at the district indoor championships. As a freshman, Long ran the third leg of the 3,200-meter relay for a Trojan team that took fourth (9:49.45) at the state meet and first in the CMass Relays (10:13.6). She is the daughter of Meredyth Long and Martin Long. T he 5-foot-8 Ross followed a third-place finish in the Mid-Wach A meet with another third, in the Central Mass. Division 1 race, covering the 2.9 miles in Gardner in 18:17.2. She served as captain and MVP for the Colonials and was named to the Mid-Wach A all-star team. In outdoor track last spring, she won league and a Class A title in the 800 meters. She enjoys art and reading. Ross would like to run in college while majoring in fine arts or art history. She is the daughter of Cynthia Poulos and Tony Ross. he 5-foot-6 MacKay was co-captain of a Crusader team that placed second in the Central Mass. Division 2 meet, taking third overall in 17:29.5, then placed ninth at states the following week. MacKay won the Thetford (Vt.) Invitational and finished sixth at the Brown Invitational (18:29). A repeat member of the T&G Super Team, MacKay enjoys painting, Alpine skiing and hanging out with friends when she’s not running. She wants to major in fine arts, though is undecided which college to attend. MacKay’s brother and sister, Daniel and Sarah, have run cross country and track. She is the daughter of Anne and John MacKay of Whitinsville. T he 5-foot-3 Vinciullo, as an eighth-grader, was team MVP and a Mid-Wach C all-star. She finished seventh in the Central Mass. Division 1 meet with a time of 18:52.7, behind only two seniors, three juniors and a sophomore. She won the Coaches Invitational Freshman Girls’ Division 1 race, clocking 12:41.5 over 3 kilometers. Vinciullo likes to shop, ski, go to the beach and hang out with her friends. Her sister, Tracey, was a Super Teamer in 2005 as a sophomore, and her mother, Kathy, was an all-state athlete in Connecticut in 1981. This is her third Super Team selection, having earned a spot on the 2005 cross country team and 2006 indoor squad. Lee enjoys running and hanging out with friends during her down time. She is the daughter of Lisa Stanley and Tom Lee. T he 5-foot-8 Massé captained the Red Raiders and was named team MVP in a year in which she finished fourth in the Central Mass. Division 1 meet (18:38.24). Her 2006 postseason started with a solid eighth-place finish in the Mid-Wach A meet, finishing the 3.1-mile Ghiloni Park (Marlboro) course in 21:39.2. Massé’s 2004 postseason included an 11th-place finish (17:38) in the state meet. She enjoys cooking, arts and crafts and hiking in her down time. Massé, who lists running with former Fitchburg Super Teamer Christine Laakso as one of her most memorable sports moments, wants a career in art or exercise and hopes to attend the University of Vermont and run there. She is the daughter of Elisa and Ronald Massé of Fitchburg. T he 5-foot-6 Wilfert had a solid postseason, highlighted by her victory at the Central Mass. Division 1 meet (17:54.9), winning the race by more than 16 seconds. She won the the Mid-Wach B meet and took seventh at the Division 1 state meet. Wilfert set the Quabbin Regional High course record this season, coming in at 18:30.9 in the Quabbin Invitational, topping the previous mark by 17 seconds on the 2.92-mile course. She was named to the Mid-Wach B all-star team for the second consecutive season. Wilfert plans to study biology in college. Division 1 championship and advanced to the state title game in each of the last four seasons. This year, she served as a captain and solidified the NDA midfield for coach Patty Provost after making the T&G Division 1 all-star team last year. Bannon, who was a Best of 60 selection, has also starred for the Rebels’ indoor track team, running on the 4x400-meter relay team that placed third at the State Coaches Meet last season. Bannon golfed on the team that advanced to the Division 2 state finals last spring, and she was a member of the 2003 state championship tennis team as a freshman. Her sister, Kristin, starred at Notre Dame Academy, graduating two years ago, and is playing at Harvard. She is the daughter of Joan and David Bannon of Hopkinton. W ith 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points, the 6-foot-1 Becque set the school scoring record and won the Mid-Wach B scoring title. She led the Rangers to a 13-2-4 mark for coach Colleen Debish and a berth in the Central Mass. Division 1 semifinals, where they lost to district champion Notre Dame Academy in overtime. Last summer, Becque played on the Central squad that won the Bay State Games gold medal. Her play helped the Westboro girls’ basketball team to a Mid-Wach B crown, and her lacrosse team advanced to the state semifinals last spring. Her sisters were accomplished players at Notre Dame Academy — Jessica went on to play goalie at Sacred Heart, and Meghan was on the 2003 Super Team and is a defender at Tufts University. N Macey Gaumond Courtney Kelley Tina Lauring Quaboag Regional Junior, Center midfielder Notre Dame Academy Senior, Goalie Notre Dame Academy Senior, Center Forward T F ot only did Dickson post fine numbers during the regular season, placing second (13 goals, 6 assists, 19 points) in the Mid-Wach B scoring race, but she came through in the postseason, scoring all three goals in Quabbin’s 3-2 victory over North Middlesex in the Central Mass. Division 1 semifinals. Under coach Shelly Zalneraitis, Dickson, a Mid-Wach B all-star, and the Panthers finished 17-1-3, falling, 1-0, to Notre Dame Academy in the title game. Last year, she was selected Quabbin’s Rookie of the Year in field hockey, indoor track and softball, adding Mid-Wach B all-star honors in softball. Her brother, Ethan, is a senior captain in football and wrestling at Quabbin. Dickson would like to major in sports medicine and play for a Division 1 program in college. She is the daughter of Pamela and Garth Dickson of Barre. A he Central Mass. Division 2 Player of the Year romped to the SWCL West scoring title (28-17-45), collecting more than twice as many points as the runners-up, teammates Kristal Swiderski and Super Teamer Chelsea Wilk. A repeat selection to the T&G Super team, she’s a U.S. Field Hockey Association Futures participant after serving as an alternate last year. For the second straight year, Gaumond led John O’Neill’s Cougars to the Division 2 state final, losing this year to Canton, 2-1. In the last three seasons, Gaumond has helped Quaboag to the Central Mass. title game, winning the last two years. In basketball, Gaumond played a key role in the Cougars’ march to the Division 3 state title last winter. Brothers Marcel and Beck Gaumond played tennis on Quaboag’s state finalist in 2003. Gaumond is the daughter of Mary Jane and Frank Gaumond of Warren. or only the second time in 30 years, a goalie served as a Rebels captain, and Kelley sure didn’t disappoint, providing leadership and impeccable performance in NDA’s drive to the Division 1 state final. She posted 15 shutouts in the Rebels’ 19-1-2 season, allowing only eight goals and having a .904 save percentage under coach Patty Provost. The two-time Central Mass. Conference all-star had 18 saves in the Rebels’ 1-1 regular-season tie with Walpole, the team that edged Notre Dame Academy in this year’s state final. Kelley was a T&G Division 1 all-star while leading the Rebels to the state title last year. She has also been to two Central Mass. finals with the softball team. Kelley, who is considering seven colleges, would like to study nursing or biotechnology. She is the daughter of Dana and Rene Kelley. fter making the T&G Division 1 all-star team last year, Lauring led the Central Mass. Conference in scoring (20 goals, 10 assists, 30 points) en route to a slot on this year’s Super Team, finishing her career with 50 goals and 31 assists. As one of Patty Provost’s captains, Lauring led the Rebels to another Division 1 state final, and she was selected to the Best of 60. In a 2-1 victory over Westboro in the Central Mass. semifinals, Lauring scored both goals, including the winner in overtime. She played four varsity seasons of field hockey, will complete the same in softball this spring and is playing her third season of varsity basketball. Lauring is applying to Fordham, Boston University and Boston College. She is the daughter of Kathy and John Lauring of Worcester. Emily Morrissey Katherine Nagengast Kathryn Nelson Quabbin Regional Senior, Forward Westboro High Junior, Goalie Shrewsbury High Junior, Forward A long with fellow Super Teamer Kyla Dickson, Morrissey sparked the Panthers through an undefeated run to the Mid-Wach B title and to the Central Mass. Division 1 title game. She tied for second in the league in goals (12) during the regular season and was named league Most Valuable Player and CMass Division 1 Player of the Year. The three-time league all-star scored twice on breakaways in Quabbin’s quarterfinal win over Fitchburg. Morrissey, who participates in spring track, scored the tying goal in the Panthers’ 2-1 win over Quaboag, which snapped the Cougars’ 33-game unbeaten streak against Central Mass. opponents. A resident of Hubbardston, she is the daughter of Pamela Morrissey and Timothy Morrissey. D uring the Rangers’ double-overtime loss to Notre Dame Academy in the Central Mass. Division 1 semifinals, Nagengast proved why she is considered one of the top goalies in the area. She stopped 17 of 18 shots in regulation and five more in the overtimes, keeping coach Colleen Debish’s team in contention. Nagengast, who participated in the National Futures Tournament and the National Field Hockey Festival, allowed only seven goals in 18 games, posting a .920 save percentage. She’s also a member of the Rangers’ swimming team, qualifying for the state sectionals in the butterfly as a freshman and sophomore. Nagengast enjoys participating in the Pan Mass Challenge bicycle ride. She’s the daughter of Kris and Rick Nagengast of Westboro. N Kristen Sacco Casey Silver Chelsea Wilk Nipmuc Regional Senior, Forward Bromfield School Junior, Center Midfielder Quaboag Regional Sophomore, Right Wing T he 5-foot-7 Sacco came on strong this season for coach Heather Waterman’s Warriors, pouring in a school-record 30 goals during the regular season while leading Nipmuc to the Dual Valley Conference championship. In Division 2 quarterfinals, she scored twice in the Warriors’ 4-0 victory over Grafton, and she netted the winner in Nipmuc’s 2-1, double-overtime win over Narragansett in the semis. Sacco was selected the DVC’s Offensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player after the Warriors’ 15-3-1 season. Sacco, who lettered in field hockey in freshman through senior seasons, would like to study art education in college. Her father was a T&G All-Star basketball player for Milford in 1978. She is the daughter of Sharon and David Sacco of Mendon. A T&G Division 2 all star last season, Silver makes this year’s Super Team after earning Mid-Wach D MVP honors playing for her mother, Sue Silver. During the regular season, she had five goals and nine assists for 14 points for the 11-4-4 Trojans, who finished second in the league and played in the Central Mass. Tournament. She collected a bronze medal at the Bay State Games, leading her club team, and she played in California at the National Field Hockey Festival. She’s playing for the Trojans’ basketball team and will play softball in the spring. Silver enjoys reading and coaching youth sports teams. Her mother was inducted into the inaugural class of the Quabbin Regional Athletic Hall of Fame. She is the daughter of Sue and Rick Silver of Wheelwright. elson is a repeat member of the Super Team after leading MidWach A in scoring (9 goals, 14 assists, 23 points) and earning league Most Valuable Player honors under coach Lauren Chenevert. She has been a league all-star the last three years and team captain the last two. Nelson scored the winning goal with eight minutes left to lift Shrewsbury past Algonquin, 3-2, in the first round of the CMass Division 1 Tournament. She is also in her third season with the varsity basketball team, helping the Colonials to the Central Mass. Division 1 title as a freshman. Brother Steven played basketball for Holy Name and Hamilton College, and brother Brian starred at Wachusett and is now playing at Williams. She is the daughter of Ann and Bob Nelson of Shrewsbury. S ince coming onto the scene as an eighth-grader, Wilk has played a key role in the Cougars’ success. In each of the past two seasons, she has helped Quaboag SWCL West and Central Mass. Division 2 titles and the state finals. During this regular season, the league all-star had 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points, contributing to a scoring machine that included Super Teamer Macey Gaumond, Kristal Swiderski and Danielle Dolan. For her three-year career, Wilk has 22 goals and 32 assists for 54 points. With Wilk on the Cougars’ front line, coach John O’Neill’s teams have gone 56-5-3, 27-1-2 in SWCL West play. Wilk’s most memorable moment of the season came when Quaboag outlasted Greenfield, 3-2, in the state semifinals. Her sister, Kelly, played field hockey at Northeastern after starring at Quaboag. Ian Brennan Bob Bruso Alex Daley Eleazar Encarnacion Fitchburg High Senior Auburn High Senior Hudson High Junior Marlboro High Senior B rennan says he will never forget playing in the Division 1 district tournament at Fitchburg’s home course. It was quite a day for the 6-foot-5 senior who finished third with a 73 to qualify for the state tournament. He finished 15th in the states. Brennan played golf for the Red Raiders for four years and was captain as a junior and senior. He made the Mid-Wach A all-star team both years and was league MVP this past season. Brennan finished second in the league tournament the last two years. He shot an even-par 36 at Oak Hill as a junior. He is son of Joanne and Michael Brennan of Fitchburg and a cousin of NHL player Keith Tkachuk. B ruso shot a 1-over 72 at Holden Hills to win medalist honors and lead the Rockets to another Division 2 district title. The 17-year-old lists that performance and helping Auburn to make the states for the third time in four years as his most memorable sports moments. Coach Mike Kaczynski’s Rockets finished 17-2 with Bruso, a two-year captain, leading the way. He was medalist in the SWCL tournament and a league all-star. He followed that performance by tying for 17th with an 86 in the state tournament at Franklin CC as the Hawks finished 10th in the team competition. He posted under-par scores in several of the Hawks’ matches this year. Daley also plays for the basketball team at Hudson. He’s the son of Sally and Pat Daley of Hudson. He played golf all four years at Marlboro and set a school record with a 2-under 33 this past season. The two-year captain was a Metrowest all-star after finishing fifth in the Division 1 state tournament, seventh in the districts and second in the Mid-Wach B tournament. His most memorable sports moment was sinking a 40-foot birdie putt on the last hole to win an NEPGA event by two strokes. The honor roll student plans to attend Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C. He is the son of Lourdes and Julius Encarnacion of Marlboro. H he 5-foot-9 Flis shot an 84 under unfavorable conditions at Gannon Municipal Golf Course in Lynn to finish 11th in the Division 3 state tournament. He lists playing in the states as his most memorable sports moment. He qualified for that tournament by finishing third in the Central Mass. Division 3 tourney with an 82, four shots behind medalist Nick Harris of Assabet, at Blackstone National in Sutton. Flis was co-MVP of the Warriors’ golf team this fall and MVP in 2005. He is also is a point guard on the Narragansett basketball team and playing sports are his hobby. He is the son of Jan and Jack Flis of Baldwinville. ontaine sunk a 35-foot on the final hole to give the Pioneers a one-shot victory over Leominster in the Division 1 district tournament at Oak Hill CC in Fitchburg. St. John’s went on to win its second straight sate team title, and Fontaine points to that as his most memorable sports moment. He has made the T&G Super Team all three years at St. John’s. He finished second in the districts the last two years and posted several under-par scores in matches this fall. Fontaine was the Massachusetts Junior Player of the Year in 2005 and finished second in the Mass. Junior Amateur this summer. He is the son of June and James Fontaine of Southbridge. osselin showed big improvement this year. After shooting a 90 in the Central Mass. Division 2 tournament as a freshman, he posted a 78 to finish third behind Auburn’s Bob Bruso and Hudson’s Alex Haley at Auburn Hills this time around. Beside being a T&G Super Teamer, Gosselin made the SWCL West all-star team, helping coach Jim Grimshaw’s Wolverines to a 14-4 record and second place in the league. The 5-foot-7 sophomore enjoys hockey and skateboarding as well as golf. He would like to someday make the Nationwide Tour, then move to the PGA Tour. He is the son of Cristy and Scott Gosselin of Leicester. Division 3 Tournament, shooting a 6-over 78 at Blackstone National, then followed that by finishing sixth in the state. He was the top Central Mass. golfer in that tournament at Gannon Municipal Golf Course in Lynn, and while he was sixth, his 10-over 80 was the fourth best score under very tough conditions. Harris was Assabet’s Player of the Year the last three seasons. His most memorable sports moment was playing in the Optimist International in West Palm Beach, Fla. He is the son of Nancy and Bruce Harris of Marlboro. His father is in the Hudson Catholic Hall of Fame as a football player. H artigan fired an 88 in the Central Mass. Division 3 tournament at Blackstone National to qualify for the states. He shot a 103 in the states under difficult conditions at Gannon Municipal GC in Lynn. He was a Mid-Wach D all-star in his second season on the Lions’ golf team. Hartigan also plays baseball at West Boylston, and he lists beating Maynard two years ago in the districts after the Tigers had beaten WB for the league title as his most memorable sports moment. Hartigan enjoys golf, baseball, flag football and being with friends. He is the son of Celia and Kevin Hartigan of West Boylston. His father played high school baseball at Millbury. T he 6-foot sophomore, who has been playing varsity golf since the seventh grade, had an impressive season for coach Matt Milszawski’s Sammies, powering Sutton to its first Central Mass. golf title. Johnson helped put Sutton in the states by finishing second in the Central Mass. Division 3 tournament at Blackstone National with an 80. He followed that with an 81 at windy Gannon Municipal in Lynn to finish eighth in the state as Sutton placed 11th. His most memorable sports moment was making a hole-in-one at age 10 on the 185-yard seventh hole at Blackstone National. He is the son of Holly and Brian Johnson of Sutton. J Dan Kroening Brandon Parker Josh Paulhus Richie Powers Littleton High Senior St. John’s High Senior Sutton High Senior Leominster High Junior K P H amel is a two-sport star and something of a Narragansett trailblazer, having become the first golfer in school history to qualify for the state tournament and the only baseball player to throw a no-hitter. Hamel made the states after finishing fourth in the Central Mass. Division 3 tournament with an 84 at Blackstone National. He was captain his junior and senior years and co-MVP this past season when he was a league all-star. He enjoys playing the guitar and hockey. Hamel is headed to Emerson College and hopes to someday land a marketing job in New York. He is the son of Sue and Stephen Hamel of Templeton. ulian capped off his fine high school golf career by shooting an 85 and finishing 13th in the state Division 3 tournament at Gannon Municipal GC in Lynn. What he is most proud of, however, is helping the Blue Raiders to finally win the Dual Vallley Conference title this season. The Hopedale tri-captain was named DVC Player of the Year for the third straight season and was medalist at the league tournament. He has made the T&G Super Team the last three years. Julian also plays baseball for Hopedale. Julian is deciding between Salem State and Westfield State. He is the son of Cathy and Michael Julian of Hopedale. T roening is a three-sport star for the Tigers and lists hitting a game-tying triple in extra innings last year as his most memorable sports moment. He will captain the baseball team in the spring. The 6-foot-2 senior is also a high-scoring forward and captain on the Littleton basketball team and was a league all-star and team MVP as a sophomore. He was a league all-star in golf this year as well, shooting an 87 in the Central Mass. Division 3 tournament at Blackstone National to qualify for the states. Kroening then posted a 92 in the state tournament at Gannon Municipal GC in Lynn. He is the son of Jennifer Kurrus and Barry Kroening of Littleton. arker capped his high school career by finishing in the top 10 in the states for the second straight year. He fired a 76 at Ludlow CC to tie for fifth with teammate Connor Wentzell and Marlboro’s Eleazar Encarnacion, helping St. John’s win the Division 1 state team title. The year before, he came in seventh in the state tournament. His most memorable sports moments were winning the FCWT New England Golf Classic at Stow Acres and finishing in the top 10 in the AJGA Fidelity Open at The International. Parker is deciding on college between Yale, William & Mary and Rhode Island. He is the son of Karen and Stephen Parker of Auburn. elping Sutton win the Central Mass. Division 3 title was Paulhus’ most memorable sports moment. He finished tied for fifth in the district tournament at Blackstone National in Sutton to qualify for the states. Paulhus was captain and team MVP as a junior and senior, making the Dual Valley Conference all-star team both years. He is also a four-year varsity baseball player at Sutton and was a DVC all-star last year. He is deciding on college between UMass-Lowell and Franklin Pierce and hopes to play golf wherever he goes. He enjoys playing golf with his dad, Jeff Paulhus, a former basketball and baseball all-star at David Prouty. he 6-foot lefty had a nine-hole average of under 40 for the second straight year, leading coach Daryl Robichaud’s Blue Devils to a 17-1 record and an eighth-place finish in the state tournament. Powers carded a 79 at Ludlow CC to tie for 12th in the states. This came after shooting a 70 to win the Central Mass. Division 1 tournament at Oak Hill CC in October, a performance he considers his most memorable sports moment. Powers was Leominster’s team captain this year and MVP the last two seasons. He won a pair of Titleist Junior Tour tournaments this summer in New Hampshire. He is the son of Jane and Richard Powers of Leominster. Colby Reese Adam Stephenson Shane Stewart Ricky Stimets Shrewsbury High Freshman Clinton High Senior Gardner High Senior Wachusett Regional Sophomore A t 14, Reese is the youngest member of the T&G Golf Super Team, but the 6-foot, 160-pound freshman has quickly made a name for himself. He posted a 75 at Oak Hill CC in Fitchburg in the Central Mass. Division 1 tournament to place fourth, five strokes behind medalist Richie Powers of Leominster. He then carded an 83 to tie for 24th in the state tournament at Ludlow CC. Two years ago, Reese finished fifth in the 12-13 age group in a NEPGA Titleist Junior Tour qualifier. His career highlight was making his first hole-in-one at the fourth hole at Cyprian Keyes. He is the son of Lisa and Darrell Reese of Shrewsbury. S tephenson lists qualifying for the state tournament at Franklin CC as his most memorable sports moment. He did that by finishing sixth with an 82 in the Central Mass. Division 2 tournament at Holden Hills, 10 shots behind medalist Bob Bruso of Auburn High. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound senior captained the Gaels this season and was a league all-star for the third straight year. Stephenson plans to play baseball for Clinton in the spring. He enjoys working out and hopes to be a police officer some day. He plans to attend Anna Maria College. He is the son of Karina and John Stephenson of Bolton. S tewart capped his senior season by qualifying for the states with a tie for seventh in the Central Mass. Division 1 tournament at Oak Hill CC. He lists shooting a 76 that day as his most memorable sports moment. He followed that performance with an 84 at Ludlow CC in the states, good for a tie for 24th. He was the captain and No. 1 player for coach Mike Eagan, helping the Wildcats to an 11-5 record. Stewart was a Mid-Wach B all-star the last two years. He plays hockey and baseball for Gardner as well. Stewart will attend UNLV and hopes to manage a resort golf course some day. He is the son of Christina and Mike Stewart of Gardner. A Spencer Sweitzer Ryan Turner Anthony Ullo Connor Wentzell Lunenburg High Senior Bay Path Regional Junior Leominster High Senior St. John’s High Junior S weitzer returns to the T&G Super Team after making the squad as a sophomore. He earned his spot after shooting a 78 at Holden Hills to tie for third at the Central Mass. Division 2 tournament. The 6-foot Sweitzer then shot a 90 in the state tournament at Franklin CC. Sweitzer also tied for third in the districts as a sophomore when he shot an 80. He followed that with an 86 in the states. Sweitzer is also active on the junior circuit. He finished in the top five in all but one of the 12 tournaments he entered over the summer, including NEPGA Westfield Sectional Junior Championship in which he was fifth. He is the son of Wayne and Katrina Sweitzer of Lunenburg. T he 5-foot-11 Turner qualified for the states by shooting an 88 and tying for eighth place with two others in the Central Mass. Division 3 Tournament at Blackstone National in Sutton. A week later, he fired a 92 under very windy conditions in the state tournament at Gannon Municipal in Lynn. He earned Colonial Athletic League all-star honors under coach Michael Bellisario’s Minutemen. Turner has played golf and baseball all three years at the Charlton school. His brother, Shawn, also played baseball at Bay Path and was the Colonial Athletic League MVP in 2004. He is the son of Joan and Paul Turner of Webster. U llo was a key player on a coach Daryl Robichaud’s strong Leominster team, which compiled a 17-1 regular-season record and finished eighth in the state. Ullo, a two-year captain, won the MidWach A individual title, then finished tied for fifth in the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament with a 75 at Oak Hill CC in Fitchburg. He lists his performance in winning the league championship as his most memorable sports moment. Ullo shot in 83 in the state tournament. He was co-MVP of Mid-Wach A and won his second LHS coach’s award this year. He is the son of Becky and Bob Ullo of Leominster. lthough just a sophomore, Stimets was the medalist in the Division 1 state tournament, shooting an even-par 72 at Ludlow CC to win the event by one stroke. The 6-foot Stimets led his team to a second-place finish in the states behind St. John’s. Stimets qualified for the states by shooting a 76, good for a tie for seventh, in the Central Mass. tournament at Oak Hill. He played hockey and baseball for Wachusett last year. Stimets enjoys snowboarding and playing Wiffle Ball, baseball and hockey. He is the son of Stacey and Rick Stimets of Holden. T his straight-A student was a key part of coach Bill Prendiville’s squad that won back-to-back state titles. Wentzell finished fifth in the state tournament at Ludlow CC with a 4-over 76. He qualified for the states when he tied for fourth in the CMass Division 1 Tournament with a 75 at Oak Hill CC. He was tops in a field of 64 in a U.S. Challenge Cup qualifier with a 1-under 71 at Rehoboth CC and played in the Junior Worlds at Torrey Pines near San Diego. Wentzell was the second youngest player (brother Garrett was the youngest) to win the Tatnuck CC club championship when he took the title at age 15. He is the son of Judy and Steve Wentzell of Worcester.
