With the help of churches, donors, volunteers, businesses, and other service providers, we’ve worked very hard to help women of all ages out of the harms of prostitution. It is because of people like you that our clients have hope.
In 2014, we continued to put our mission to action. With the ongoing challenges of running a non-profit, it would have been easy to scale back our services; however, we put our Faith in action and trusted God to bring the increase. As a result, we didn’t have to turn anyone away; in fact, we helped more women than ever and increased our programming. That meant assisting 31 new women in stepping away from prostitution, not to mention the continued services we provided to our current clientele. We did all of this on a tighter budget and with a deeper reliance on the Lord.
Our commitment to His daughters extended to the June 2014 purchase of a drive-through coffee stand, GP
Java on International Boulevard in SeaTac. Through this leap of Faith we have been able to train and hire formerly sexually exploited women. One of my secondary visions for GP was to provide actual jobs for women coming out of prostitution. GP Java is the culmination of that vision. More often than not, the women we serve rarely have any legitimate work history, nor do they have the job skills regular employers are looking for. GP Java takes care of both issues, and barista skills are easy to learn and in high demand all around the United States. Whether having been “in the life” or not, our baristas are amazing. They provide excellent service and quality espresso drinks to our customers on a daily basis. We look forward to achieving our goal of using our espresso stand’s profits to eventually assist in funding the operation of our drop-in center.
We also saw the release of the second documentary The Genesis Project has been featured in, “The Long
Night.” This award-winning film depicts the harsh realities women face on a daily basis and their nearly impossible struggle to leave the “life.” Enter The Genesis Project, with the power of God’s love and hope shining through.
Altogether, our 2014 achievements helped create a foundation for a greater amount of hope for more clients in the coming years, not only for prostituted women in SeaTac, but for the entire Seattle area.
Our hope is that you will continue to walk with us on this journey so we can be with those who are lost in the prison of slavery, and together we will provide the light in the darkness that shines a path of restoration to
His precious daughters.
Thank you,
Andy Conner

In 2012, Leah’s life was in pieces. She’d made a large amount of money over the years by working in the sex trade. However, that lifestyle had taken its toll as it funded her addiction, isolated her from family, and kept her in a dangerous environment.
In 2012, a law enforcement officer found Leah and brought her to The
Genesis Project’s drop-in center. She stayed one night, which led to a second night about seven months later. Considering how high she was when deciding to go there, the fact she arrived for a second night was a miracle. Another miracle happened when she got into a substance abuse recovery program the very next day. It never happens that quickly. It was hard to describe, but it was evident God had moved. The pieces of her life were starting to weave back together.
Recovery has its ups and downs, but Leah stayed strong and graduated from her program a year later. During recovery, Leah felt called to be with The Genesis Project and spent more time there. Time at the center brought a sense of nostalgia, and Leah would often get emotional thinking about how it was the place where her recovery began.
After graduation, The Genesis Project opened GP Java, which has a mission of hiring formerly exploited women. In early October 2014, Leah became a barista there. Being that she had once operated her own stand, she brought a lot of tangible experience with her that improved the operation of the stand.
December 2014 brought even more changes, including reunification with her two older children for the first time in seven years. Additionally, GP Java’s manager position opened up, and Leah easily moved into that role, bringing even more ideas that improved the stand’s marketing and customer experience. Did we mention she makes an amazing white chocolate mocha? All of this was capped off by her speaking for a second time at The Genesis Project’s annual Night of Hope auction. It was wonderful to update guests about all God had done in the last year.
As the pieces of her life continued to join together, GP was her support and place of healing.
These days you can also find Leah working as a part-time case manager in the center, where she has been a huge blessing to staff and prostitution survivors. Through God, Leah has gone from client to case manager and coffee stand manager. Thank you Lord for Leah! We cannot wait to see what God does for you next.

Cooking Class Volunteer
Rachel would often see prostituted women on the side of the street, and she would resist the thought of pulling over to help them. How could she really help? She didn’t have history, trust, or even a platform with these women.
After attending our fall 2014 Volunteer Training and giving it some prayerful thought, she decided to respond by volunteering at GP. Her biggest fear was not having anything to offer.
But then she felt God saying, “You have Me to give.” Upon talking it over with The Genesis
Project’s Center Director, she agreed to facilitate a cooking program at the drop-in center. Each week, Rachel and a client or two prepare a meal. Rachel says something amazing happens when food is made together. It allows space for building relationships that feels really easy and not forced.
She’s had really good prayer times with clients over curry. She’s even had the gospel shared with her! The longer she’s been here, the more her relationships grow with staff and clients, including her role of “honorary mom” with a few younger clients. Just the other day, she gave advice to a new mom on supplies to get for her newborn. Rachel just keeps wanting to come back to GP, and we cannot imagine the center without her.
Prayer Team
After she attended volunteer trainings in the fall of 2012, a GP staff member asked Terry to be a volunteer prayer leader once a month, and she immediately said yes. Terry remains a faithful member of the prayer team to this day.
They meet every Saturday.
It has also been a real blessing to her to support the girls. The first time she was called to spend the night with a client, Andy informed her the client was going through heroin withdrawals and hadn’t really slept in ten days.
It panicked Terry, but she realized you don’t need to have a special background in order to love someone. She prayed, asking God to lead her as she interacted with this client. That night ended up going really well. This same client still struggles, but Terry knows God keeps calling to her.
Terry has also completed administrative tasks, prepped for fundraising events, greeted at
Volunteer Trainings, and so much more. One thing she likes about GP is the variety of roles to get involved in. Whenever we set up a booth, Terry loves sharing GP with everyone because she really believes in the vision. GP is so thankful for Terry!

Prayer Team
Kim first heard about GP at church because the pastor diligently promoted local ministries.
Kim had taught at a SeaTac elementary school for a long time and had seen how entrenched decades old poverty had impacted the com munity. And how many kids had parents experiencing prostitution? Attending our
Volunteer Training a few years ago gave her a new perspective on the community.
Kim eventually joined the Prayer Team and has been on it for over two years. Kim likes it because you don’t need skill. You just show up! It’s not about being good at praying. It’s about asking God and getting to see how He answers. You pray about things bigger than yourself.
Her favorite thing about being on the Prayer
Team is seeing God work. Once they prayed for a client, and she was eventually blessed with long term housing (a type that is difficult to get). There was another client who Kim would drive to appointments. She was preg nant and worried about being homeless. The
Prayer Team prayed for her, and now she is in a much better situation. The Genesis Project is incredibly grateful to Kim and the support of the Prayer Team.
Shelter
Overnight Volunteer
Because Nicole first heard about The Genesis
Project three times in one week, she decided to look it up and happened to learn they were training volunteers the very next weekend!
She immediately signed up and has been a happy volunteer ever since, mostly working overnights when survivors spend the night at the center. Nicole has been very touched to be trusted with stories of vulnerabilities that others would be too cautious to share.
When asked what she wanted people to know about GP, Nicole said she wanted people to know we really are changing lives. There is a very real need to help women right here in
Western Washington. You don't have to fly to
Vietnam or India to rescue women living in prostitution (although there is a need for people to do that too). We have people right here in the Seattle area who are also living a life that isn't their choice. People can just drive to SeaTac and help!
