I have been a permanent resident of Longboat Key
for thirty years, a registered voter, and I am adamantly
opposed to you allowing Loeb to change the zoning of
Islandside. I would not have spent my life savings buy-
ing my home here if I knew you would allow anyone to
build high rises or any massive concrete buildings that
would change the view from my apartment. It is not fair
and I am putting my trust in you gentlemen to see that
my rights are upheld.
If they must build additional residences, why not
have them do so above the hotel they are planning to
rebuild? The Ritz Carlton has done so very successfully.
That change would at least maintain the integrity of
our community. It seems doubtful that they even plan
to go through with building the hotel in light of their
reputation.
The future of our beautiful, serene island is in your
hands, gentlemen. As our elected representatives, I
