The Links, Incorporated Daytona Beach Chapter
A Scholarship Offer
for
African-American Graduating High School Seniors
in Volusia and St. Johns County
African-American students of African descent in the 2015-2016 high school graduating classes in
Volusia and St. Johns County may enter this competition for a $1,000 scholarship.
A runner-up will be selected to receive the scholarship if the winner does not matriculate at an
accredited college during the 2015-2016 academic year.
Instructions for Completing Your Application

The completed application including the essay must be postmarked and mailed by April 18,
2016 to Chair, Scholarship Committee, The Links, Incorporated Daytona Beach Chapter,
P. O. Box 10702, Daytona Beach, FL 32120 – 0702.

Applications with a postmark later than April 18, 2016 will not be accepted. Winners and
runner-up will be announced by May 2, 2016.

Applicants will be judged on scholarship, extra-curricular activities, civic/community
service, leadership, resourcefulness, and essay (technique, originality and creativity). The
applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, which must be verified by a copy of current
transcript submitted with the application.

In addition to the information requested in the application, the applicant must submit two
letters of recommendation from responsible persons who are well acquainted with you
other than relatives.

Your application must be typed or neatly handwritten in ink on 8 ½ x 11 white unlined
paper and must be signed by the applicant. You may use additional sheets of white unlined
paper if necessary. Do not write on the back of the application nor on the back of any
additional sheets.

Pages should be numbered. The application face page is the first page. Staple pages
together. Do not use covers or decorations of any kind. Please be sure to place the
question topic next to information on additional sheets.

Your application, with the attached requirements, will be evaluated by The Links,
Incorporated Daytona Beach Chapter’s Scholarship Committee.
