For High School Seniors in Poweshiek County
Directions: The completed application, with the HS Counselor’s information (GPA
and Class Rank) and with 3 references attached must be in the hand of the PCRSP
scholarship coordinator (Judith Barber, 1402 Main St. Grinnell 50112, 641-9901464) by April 10. No late applications will be considered. The winner of the $500
scholarship will be notified by April 15 and the check presented at Awards Night.
The winner must be a senior at a Poweshiek County HS who plans to teach and has
been accepted and plans to attend a college or university with a Teachers’ Education
program.

Student Application: Please complete two (2) sections of this application (Essay
and Activities), whether handwritten or typed, using additional attached pages
provided by the applicant. The Essay should be a thoughtful, well-written statement
explaining why you want to be a teacher and what experiences you have had that
make you think you would be a good teacher. The second part is a separate page
listing your activities and volunteer experiences at school and in the community.
Reference: The student will attach three (3) written references from people who
know the student well: two from school personnel at the high school and one from
the community. The reference may be handwritten or typed.
