Five Paragraph Essay – Immigration Issues
Your five paragraph essay topic is immigration to the United States from Latin
America. We will watch the documentary wetbacks and read The Great
Immigration Debate to help you form an opinion.
Your first paragraph will be an introduction. It will be an overview of the issue
and it will include your thesis. A thesis is a one sentence statement that tells
what your essay is about. It should jump out at the reader – it should be an
attention getter.
The second paragraph of your essay would be the Pros of allowing more
immigrants into the United States. State the reasons why a person could say
that there should be more of an open door policy in the United States.
The third paragraph should have to do with the Cons of having more immigrants
to the United States. Write what people believe are the negatives of having large
scale immigration to the United States.
In the fourth paragraph you are going to write your true feelings. In 5-7
sentences express what you feel, but back up your opinions.
The last paragraph should be a conclusion. In 5-7 sentences conclude your
essay.
