Jumpstart Your College Planning Day for Juniors is February 1 Jumpstart Your College Planning Day on February 1 is a school day devoted to helping AHA juniors get started on the college planning and application process, so they’re ready when they become seniors. This important event is a requirement for juniors. They will need their laptops with them all day. The event begins with a presentation in the theater at 8:25 a.m. Throughout the day, juniors will attend a series of sessions about college planning—including ACT/SAT preparation, essay writing, navigating college life, resume writing, career and personality exploration, and the Family Connection/college search. Students are required to treat this as a regular school day. Because of Sno Daze, students are allowed to be out of uniform but must be dressed in the theme for the day “College Sweatshirts or T-Shirts”. We also expect that our students will be respectful and on their best behavior as all of the speakers have volunteered to give up their day to be with our students and to prepare them in these topics. Detention will be given out to students not behaving appropriately, if necessary. Please speak to your students about the importance of this day. Thank You for Supporting Holy Angels AHA thrives on the support of donors in our community, and we're very grateful for that confidence. From time to time throughout the year, we'll be acknowledging the donors who support AHA. Here's the first of those messages. The “We Can” Capital Campaign In early 2011, the Academy of Holy Angels’ Board of Trustees took a first, bold step in response to planning recommendations from parents, alumni and other constituents and launched the Leadership Phase of We Can: The Campaign for Holy Angels. The campaign addresses several critical funding components: renovations and upgrades to the current facility, increased funds for tuition assistance, faculty needs and ongoing curricular enhancement. These commitments already have funded the kitchen renovation and extensive roof repair. We now are working to secure commitmentss to build new classrooms in the Convocation Center and make infrastructure improvements on the older part of our building. These AHA parents are supporting the We Can Capital Campaign The AHA Annual Fund Most gifts to the Academy Holy Angels are given through the Annual Fund. Gifts to the Annual Fund support crucial day-to-day needs as well as special needs of the high school. The unrestricted nature of the Annual Fund allows these dollars to be used where the needs and opportunities are the greatest. Simply put, the Annual Fund provides the difference between the actual cost to educate a Holy Angels student and what current tuition provides. To this degree, whether or not a student receives financial aid, all students benefit from Annual fund contributions. These parents support the AHA Annual Fund The AHA Legacy Society The Legacy Society recognizes those individuals who have included the Academy of Holy Angels in their estate planning. A legacy gift is a wonderful way to pass on your faith and the opportunity of a Holy Angels education to the next generation. By designating Holy Angels as a beneficiary of an estate, life insurance policy, retirement plan or other mechanism, individuals have left a lasting legacy to the Academy of Holy Angels. These donors are members of our Legacy Society To learn more about how you can support Holy Angels, contact Development Director Brian McCartan at 612-798-2618 or bmccartan@academyofholyangels.org From the College and Career Center Junior Parents: Do you have the Junior Meeting on your Calendar? If you think that you fall into this category, but do not receive a message from Taher, it may be that your e-mail address is not current in the company database. To update your e-mail address, contact Taher directly at taher@academyofholyangels.org. Taher has a low balance policy: If a student's lunch account has no funds, the student will not be able to purchase hot lunch. However, the student will not go away hungry!
