Update on activities
 ICRC:
Providing technical assistance and support on sufficient water
provision to the Government. In future ICRC planning to work
on community level.
 Mercy Yemen:
Continue the program of “healthy house” in Shara'ab Alrawna,
Almqbena and Alta'zia districts. “Healthy house” projects
include activities on wash reforms, water harvest, increase
awareness of disease prevention etc.
TLWSC:
Taiz Local Water and Sanitation Cooperation is doing a lot of
projects and activities with the cooperation of several NGOS like
ICRC, CLP, Yemen Ala'ata'a, UNICEF, Mercycorps and other NGOs.
The work is related to water by digging walls, tanks, water
networks, and sanitation (sewage). INGOs are helping us in
providing and maintenance of pumps, small network of sewage,
generators …etc.
TLWSC sent a proposal of covers for main halls of sewages to
Mercycorps which cost about YER 10,000,000 .
TCIF- Taiz Cleaning Industry Foundation
Thanking Mercycorps for their participation in cleaning streets,
appreciating their watching role, maintenance, and providing of
some materials to the trucks. TICF always need support and aid
from other NGOs, requesting the continual of support from
Mercycorps and they are hoping to work closer with INGOs in
future.
 Mercycorps
Wash project in Mercycorps is as the following :
Water voucher distribution to most vulnerable groups, Hygiene
Promotion. September cycle distribution for 3500HH was
completed successfully in 3 districts Taiz city (Salah, Almudafer,
Alqahera).
Distribution of 70 garbage containers in the 3 targeted districts is
under the process;
Global hand washing Dayactivities:
Mercy Yemen, Mercycorps and UNICEF are going to hold
activities in October 2012.
UNICEF: is going to hold a celebration festival in Al-Makha and
Mawza'a districts with distribution of hygiene kits for children.
UNICEF is ready to provide other NGOs with IEC materials
(posters and brochures) related to hand washing practicing.
There are orders from Yemeni government to ministry of
education to hold activities of GHW in schools. Planning matrix
should be submitted by Saturday.

Private sectors participation in CHW is highly recommended to
avoid the duplicate of activities, labels and to motivate their
contribution in GHW.
AOB:
Drinking water conditions in Taiz : Mercy corps rise the
concern of the quality of drinking water in Taiz. During
monitoring visits to Water station it was found that vendors
don’t have proper instruction on water chlorination what is
alarming.
Capacity building Map:
Mercy Yemen called the members to meet on 3rd October 2012
in UNICEF office to create work group on the building capacity
map of local actors. It will be like a form to be filled by invitees
to identify the training needs for local boards. After creating
the map, the cluster will write a proposal for fund agencies.
Similar map (the first map) was done successfully in Alhodaida .
