Date for the winter sports kick-off meeting has changed to October 25 Originally, our winter sports kick-off meeting was set for Monday, October 31. But there are some other things that often happen on October 31, so the meeting date has been changed to Tuesday, October 25, at 6 p.m. Winter sports participants and their parents should plan to attend. Math STARS gets underway on Tuesday, October 25 Math STARS, AHA's competitive math team, will hold an information meeting on Tuesday, October 25, at 2:45 p.m. in room 3363. Wednesday, October 26, is PLC day Wednesday, October 26, is a PLC day at AHA. Teachers will gather with their Professional Learning Communities for early-morning meetings, and school starts late at 8:25 a.m. Buses run at their regular times, and there’s supervision at school for students who arrive early. Grade 9 retreats are October 26 and 27 Each ninth-grader will participate in a one-day retreat on either Wednesday, October 26, or Thursday, October 27. Students received details and permission slips in their theology classes and should remember to bring a bag lunch. There’s a parent prayer service for families whose student is attending the retreat each day. The Wednesday morning service is scheduled for 8:25 a.m. (because Wednesday is a PLC, late-start day), and the Thursday morning service is set for 7:50 a.m. All ninth-grade parents are warmly invited to attend. Much Ado About Nothing opens on October 28 Starlight Productions’ fall show, Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare opens its run at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 28. Make reservations at 612-798-2651 We Want You to Know School community to remember loved ones in All Saints Mass on November 1 Our school community will gather to celebrate the Feast of All Saints (a holy day of obligation) the morning of Tuesday, November 1. Father Mike Byron (AHA’s former chaplain) will be our guest presider. Campus Ministry students have been hard at work planning the mass. In addition to honoring the Saints, we would like to recognize the loved ones from the AHA community who have gone before us in faith. All students are invited to send the names of loved ones they’ve lost in the past year to Mrs. Anhut at canhut@starsmail.org to be recognized at the All Saints Mass. Students are asked to include a brief explanation of their connection to the person who died (grandmother, uncle, friend). Parents, if you have a loved one you would like honored at this mass you also may send the name of the person and the person’s relationship to you to Mrs. Anhut. Students must make their transcript requests to the College and Career Center via Family Connection at least two weeks in advance of posted admission deadlines to ensure materials arrive in time. For example, students with application deadlines of November 15 must make their transcript request in Family Connection by October 28. Also, students are responsible for sending their test scores directly from ACT or SAT to the colleges. The Academy of Holy Angels does not send test scores to colleges.
