Now Available in Europe:
The New High Efficiency SANYO HIT® HD-Series Modules
Munich, March 31, 2011
SANYO Component Europe GmbH (SANYO) is pleased to announce
that the new SANYO HIT®1 HD2-Series modules with the highest efficiency yet in the HD-Series,
are now available in the European market.
The two new models of the HD-Series on sale in Europe are the HIT-H250E01, with an output of
250W and a module efficiency of 18.0%, and the HIT-H245E01, with an output of 245W and a
module efficiency of 17.7%.
The HIT® HD-Series has been developed specifically for the European market and is available at
specialized SANYO dealers.
Characteristics
1) HIT® HD – effective use of resources and design
The new HIT® HD-Series modules – SANYO’s successful HIT® cell technology in a new format.
Four cell elements constitute a hexagonal, honeycomb shaped design, which reduces the waste
during manufacture and makes optimal use of the module’s surface area. The result is a compact
module with a high efficiency that can achieve a high power output even on a small surface area.
2) Improved light absorption thanks to anti-reflection glass
The new modules of the HD-Series make use of anti-reflection glass which reduces the loss
caused by the reflection and diffusion of the sunlight. Due to improved light absorption, more
sunlight reaches the cells, which increases their efficiency. This effect can be best observed in the
mornings and evenings when the sun is low in the sky.
HIT® is a registered trademark of SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. The name "HIT ®" comes from "Heterojunction with
Intrinsic Thin-layer" which is an original technology of SANYO Electric Co., Ltd.

3) Cost-efficient installation thanks to a low voltage
Since the cells are partly connected in parallel to each other, the HIT® HD-Series has a lower
voltage than the previous models. In this way, a single string with 20 modules and a capacity of
5kWp can be configured. In contrast, the previous NKHE series could only reach a 3.65 kWp
capacity with a single string. The lower amount of parallel strings and a simplified configuration
reduces costs for materials and installation.
4) Product line-up suitable to the European market
The new HD-Series modules provide the ideal solution in countries where the Feed-in Tariff
favours systems with a certain maximum power output. For example, for the HIT-H250E01 with
its 250W power output, 12 modules provide exactly 3 kWp for systems in Italy or France, while
16 modules generate exactly 4kWp for systems in the UK.

About SANYO HIT® Solar Cell Technology
SANYO HIT® solar cells are made of thin mono crystalline silicon wafers which are surrounded
by ultra-thin amorphous silicon layers. Due to these layers, there is a reduction in carrier
recombination allowing the HIT® solar cells to generate more power for there surface area than
conventional crystalline solar cells.
In addition, HIT® solar cells have superior temperature characteristics, meaning that unlike
conventional solar cells, they continue to produce a high output even at high temperatures, thereby
providing consistently high performance throughout the year.
SANYO has been enhancing its high-performance HIT® solar cell technology and has achieved a
cell conversion efficiency of 23.0% in R&D conditions. This improved technology is being
implemented in the mass production of the new HIT® HD-Series modules with high module
efficiency.
About SANYO’s Solar Business in Europe
In 1980, SANYO began mass production of amorphous solar cells, being the first company to do
so, and in 1997 commenced the mass production of its high efficiency, high output HIT® solar
cells.
SANYO’s HIT® solar cells are highly appraised by the market not only because of their high
efficiency and outstanding temperature characteristics but also because of their very high
reliability.
In 2004, SANYO Component Europe GmbH, the European sales headquarters was established,
followed by the module assembly production site in Hungary in 2005. SANYO Component
Europe GmbH is a member of PV CYCLE, the European collection and recycling programme for
end-of-life modules.
