ACCP English/College Composition II
Before you begin this essay, be sure to read up on the Byronic Hero; you can start with the link on my website. Then, decide which direction you want to go with this heroic concept:
1.
How is the monster (or perhaps even Victor Frankenstein) an example of a Byronic
Hero?
2.
What is a Byronic Hero exactly? Choose a modern hero or character from literature that exemplifies these traits.
3.
Compare and contrast #1 and #2. Which hero do you think is a more convincing vision of
Lord Byron’s concept?
This paper should be 1-2 pages in length and will be worth 25 points. In order to earn the 25 points, you should use plenty of examples from the novel, sophisticated, grade/course-
appropriate language and vocabulary (words from the novel are always a plus). Remember,
direct quotes are always an expectation in ACCP English. If you choose to use an outside source,
you must include a Works Cited page. Even though this is a shorter essay, you should read over the paper before submitting for a grade, or, better yet, have someone else read over it. We will complete at least one round of peer editing in class.
This paper is due Monday, January 13, TYPED and in MLA format.
