El Árbol Genealógico
DUE: January 23rd
You will have a project for this chapter. This project will be done entirely at home. It
will be worth a test grade.
THE POSTER:
You will be making a family tree of your imaginary family. You will use cut outs from
magazines to serve as members of your family. DO NOT use pictures of real members of
your actual family. Remember, this is your IMAGINARY family. You must label each
family member and give them a name. This will be in complete sentences using the
grammar we are learning in school. The labels may be done by hand or typed. You
decide which one will be more presentable. Use the following sentence as a model:
Alex es mi abuelo.
(name) + (ser)+ (my) +(family member).
OR
Mi abuelo es Alex.
(my)+(family member)+(ser)+(name)
Every family tree must include, but is not limited to, the following members:
___Grandfather
___Grandmother
___Father or stepfather
___Mother or stepmother
*********Gemelos or gemelas= TWINS*********
___Sibling and/or stepsiblings
___Uncle and/or aunt
___Cousins
___Twins- one set of people on your list must be twins. It can be you and your sibling,
one set of your cousins, one of your parents and their sibling, etc.
___Yourself (The poster label can say : “Soy yo.” or “Yo soy ‘your name’.”)
THE ESSAY:
Attached to the
the following:
front of the poster will be an essay about your family. The essay should include
________ Who is in your family?
________ Describe EACH of the members of your family- personality and
physical traits individually.
________Describe people together who happen to have the same traits.
(example: My mother and aunt are short-Mi madre y mi tía son bajas).
There should be at least one description like this one.
________ Tell the nationality of the grandparents. They can be the same or
different.
________ Tell the age of your family members. You should talk about the ages of
people who have the same age in the same sentences. (example:
My mother and aunt are 40 years old- Mi madre y mi tía tienen
cuarenta años). There should be at least one description like this
one.
________ Describe yourselves as a group.
(example: We are funny and shy.–Somos graciosos y tímidos.)
________ Describe the set of twins in your family.
THE ESSAY MUST BE TYPED.
I am attaching the
accent codes list so that you can type in the accents. You must have 2
printouts of your essay, one to attach to the poster and one to turn into
me to grade.
If you want to go over your rough draft before it is due, we can correct it together either at
recess/lunch. Just make an appointment with me. This must be done not later than
January 19.
