Name: ___________________________________________________

The Task
You are to choose one of the following two composition tasks and present in either audio/video or written
format.
1) A piece of music suitable for film, television or advertising. This would usually involve answering a brief
from the director or producer to compose music that would be an integral part of a film, television show
or advertisement (eg: Action music for car chase scene). You should include a short (and fictitious)
written brief and describe how you have manipulated the musical elements to fulfil it.
2) Your own original composition that could justifiably be promoted for syncing in film, television or
advertising. This would usually involve composing a song or piece in a style of your choosing and then
submitting it to various syncing organisations who supply music to the film industry. You should provide a
written elevator pitch for a sync application describing your composition and what it could be used for
in film, television or advertising (eg: song for twilight soundtrack, happy rock song for Channel 10
summer promo ads).
It is recommended that you edit the recording of your music alongside suitable video footage.
