Important Deadlines – NO EXCEPTIONS
* A $75 Registration Fee and Contract is due April 1, 2010. NO EXCEPTIONS.
The registration fee includes a pageant t-shirt, professional photos, a souvenir program book and a pageant
party.
* A minimum of $100 and all other monies collected for advertisements, patrons, and donations are
due Saturday, August 21st, 2010. NO LATER THAN 11:30AM.
* Essays and Scrapbooks are due Saturday, August 21st, 2010.
* Pageant Ticket Money is due Friday, September 17th, 2010 to be counted towards your final score NO
LATER THAN 7:30PM.
*A member of Sigma Sigma Omega will be collecting all monies for the pageant. On dates when
money will be collected she will be there ½ hour before and the 1st ½ hour of the workshop.
(example: If workshop starts at 1pm she will be there from 12:30-1:30)

Rules and Regulations
Advertisement
All monies collected for advertisements, patrons, and donations must be turned in Saturday,
August 21st, 2010 and money collected counts towards the contestant’s points. For every one full page
ad sold the contestant will receive an additional souvenir book. NOTE: Purchase of two half-page ads
does not constitute one full page ad.
Ticket Sales
All monies collected for ticket sales must be turned in by Friday, September 17th, 2010 and
money collected counts towards the contestant’s points.
Scrapbook
The Little Miss Tea Rose and Little Miss Ivy contestants are required to make a scrapbook.
Contestants will display their artistic ability by creating a scrapbook based on workshops presented
and community service. Scrapbook must be completed by the contestant. The scrapbook must contain
at least 8 pages. One (1) page for each of the following: Biography, Health, Financial Literacy,
Community Service, Etiquette, and the Going Green initiative by “How I can help Mother Earth” and
two (2) pages on the “Promise” theme.
Essay & Leadership Portfolio
Contestants are to submit a hand written essay based on the theme of the pageant. The essay
must be written by the contestant. The “Little Miss Pearl” and the “Little Miss Rosette” contestants are
required to handwrite a 300 word essay. Essays will be judged on grammar, spelling, and creativity
and are due Saturday, August 21st, 2010. See essay and portfolio guidelines on page 11 for further
details.
Formal Wear
See attire guidelines on page nine.
Talent
Contestants must perform a talent for the pageant. The talent routine can be of their choice but
cannot be longer than 2 minutes. Examples of talent routines are dancing, cheering, singing, poetry
reading, playing an instrument, etc.
Attendance
Contestant must be present at pageant practices and activities to earn attendance points. Girls’
age 4 – 9 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Escorts
Each Contestant is required to have an escort during the formal wear competition. Escorts are
required to attend Dress Rehearsal and must wear black dress pants, white shirt, and green
cummerbunds. Escorts are responsible for renting the cummerbunds. Rental fee must be paid in
advance.

Essay / Leadership Portfolio Requirements
Twenty-five percent of the combined score will come from a written essay and leadership
portfolio. An essay is an organized collection of the writer’s thoughts about a person, place,
thing or idea. In your required essay you will write about “How my season of promise can
make a better tomorrow.” Grammar, punctuation, spelling and research will be considered in
the judging.
In the Leadership Portfolio, contestants will display their numerous leadership abilities by
creating a portfolio (similar to a scrapbook) of their different activities which utilizes their
leadership skills. The leadership portfolio must be completed by the contestant. The portfolio
must contain at least 4 pages. One page for each of the following: Biography, Future
ambitions, and two pages of Leadership activities. It is not limited to four pages, it can be
more if the contestant so chooses.

Awards
2010 “Little Miss AKA” Pageant

The following awards will be given on the night of the “Little Miss AKA” Pageant.
1. Age Category Crowned Winner: In each category there will be one contestant crowned
as the titleholder for her category based on the highest points scored.
2. LMAKA Winner: There will be one contestant crowned as “Little Miss AKA”. The
winner will determined based on the highest points scored from all three categories.
3. ESP Winner: The ESP winner will go to the contestant who sells the most ads, which
includes advertisements, patrons, and donations. They will receive a US savings bond
worth 60% of the money raised by the contestant.
4. ESP Runner-Up’s: There will also be a Runner Up’s to the ESP winner who will receive
a US savings bond.
 1st Runner- Up will receive a US savings bond worth 40% of the money raised by
the contestant.

2nd Runner- UP will receive a US savings bond worth 30% of the money raised by
the contestant.
 All remaining contestants
a. Raised $400 or more – will receive a US savings bond worth 20% of the
money raised.
b. Raised less than $400 – will receive a US savings bond worth $50.
5. Scrapbook Winner: The “Little Miss Tea Rose” contestant with the best scrapbook will
be awarded, as well as the best scrapbook for the “Little Miss Ivy” category.
6. Essay Winner: The “Little Miss Pearl” and the “Little Miss Rosette” contestant with the
best essay will be awarded.
7. Talent Winner: The contestant scoring the highest points in talent in each category will
be the talent winner.

8. Crowd Pleaser Winner: The contestant who has the most money in their jar at the end
of the pageant will be awarded. All monies will go to help benefit the Cheryl Maynard
Fowler Memorial Scholarship fund.
9. Participation Certificates: All contestants will receive a participation certificate and a
trophy.
10. Escorts: All escorts will receive a participation certificate and a medal.
