Proposas for Program Review Course Reduction Chemistry Department 15 January 2011 1. Aims: Short Term The short term goals of the course reduction are to: a) address the issues raised in the response to our 2010 Annual Report by the Program Review Committee b) gather and organize the data required for the 2011 Annual Report (tracking graduates) c) write the 2011 Annual Report d) gather and organize the data for the 2012 annual report (ACS exam scores and MCAT scores). Long Term The long term goals of the course reduction include examining the overall progress of the chemistry department towards its 6-yr report due in 2014. 2. Track summer research; administer essay lab P.Chem II lab instructor is responsible for exam to seniors in P. Chem administering essay lab exam; P. Chem. II lab instructor together with chair responsible for assessing the exam. Chair and administrative assistant will track summer research students. Track participation in Chemistry club; track Administrative assistant will track graduates participation in Chem club. Entire department with the aid of the administrative assistant will track graduates. Administer essay exam in Senior Seminar course. Seminar instructor will administer essay exam. Seminar instructor and chair will assess according to rubric The data will be shared with the rest of the department at department meetings.
