RON SHARP In the year of 1933 a man named Ron Sharp was born in the state of New York. The day he was born was a day that a hero was born since he served in the Korean War that changed our American lives. He grew up in Hyde Park, New York where he lived with his mom and dad for most of his childhood. Some of his good times of being a kid were playing with his dog in the park. He loved that dog and it was his best friend. Once it died he was very sad. He did dream of being in the military but ever thought it was going to become a reality. He wanted to be a pilot and serve in the military but he just become a gun man, but he didn’t mind. He went to the college Ridder University where he learned to become a accountant. Which he later becomes in his life. Before the war he was not married but lived happily. And had plenty of family members. That was what his life was before the war. When joining the military he did not know what to expect. The branch he was in was the army. He worked long and hard to become a sergeant and control his own soldiers. He is still very proud of it. He was enlisted in the military at the age of 20 in 1953. Some good times he had been when after a long hard battle he got to relax and rest with friends. But the very next day he was up and at em’. Though he had some good times there were bad time when he lost some of his men. Also when he had to train he said it was very brutal and not very fun. But the training helped him when it came to battle. He was thankful of that. When working with other people he mostly got along which he said made it a better time being there. So he wasn’t always alone, he had his comrades there with him. When in battle he liked to use the M1 Grand since it as easy to carry and shot very accurate. That was a gun preferred by a lot of people actually. He also had grenades to help him when there were a lot of people in a group. It helped clear the way to go. During the war he missed his family so. He wished he could see them but it wasn’t allowed to go home until it was his time. But knowing his family was home and safe and waiting for him to get home that kept him moving on and trying his hardest. That is what it was like during the war for him. He left the military in 1956 and he was glad it was time. He was 23 so he was there a whole 3 years. I can tell that would be very hard to be away from your family that long. When he left the military he moved into Trenton, New Jersey. The war changed his life because it helped him grow up and become more mature. It changed the way he viewed he world by knowing there are some countries that need help and all the brave men that gave there lives for helping their country. He joined the military when he was drafted. It scared him at first because he did not know what it would be like when he got to battle and how he would get along with others. When he left the military his life changed because he knew that he was a hero for serving the US which is the greatest deed someone can do. He reacted to the war at first he didn’t know what to think about it because he has never been in a war before but once he started and it ended he was very glad. Ron is my grandpa. I’m so glad he’s my grandpa. He is the nicest person I have ever met in my whole life.
