Activities
 Has been conducting researches on crop production systems for the various
companies he has worked for since 1977
 In crop production, has been involved in optimizing business systems for the
production of plantation crops like bananas and cassava and pineapple; field crops
like rice and corn; fruit crops like pummelo, mango, mangosteen; and greenhouse
crops like vanilla, tomato, ferns, rose, orchids, pepper and the various brassica
species
 In livestock production, has developed management information systems for swine
breeding and grow-out operations, range breeding of Brahman cattle, cow-calf
backyard cattle breeding and fattening operations
 In fish breeding, has been directing the companies in developing cutting edge
technology for fish breeding of bangus, lapulapu, tilapia, snappers, pompano and
seabass
 Has led the development of grow-out technologies for pond and marine cage
rearing of shrimp, bangus, pompano, sea bass, lapulapu, and tilapia
 Is currently developing technologies for production of various aquaculture species
in the lower trophic levels like heterotrophic bacteria, the various algae, clams,
abalone, sea cucumber in biodiverse polyculture systems
 Is continuing the improvement of various hydroponic formulations for greenhouse
crops as a follow-up to the ZEE hydroponic formulation and in adapting the
hydroponic principles into the new science of aquaponics (combining fish
production in recirculating systems with vegetable production)

 Graduated with a Master’s Degree in Chemistry from the Ateneo de Manila
University in 1978
 Graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the Ateneo de Manila
University in 1975
 Enjoyed a four-year college scholarship from the then National Science
Development Board
 Continues to improve knowledge through national and international trade
conferences and exhibits, discussions with peers in the business and scientific
