If there is a change in pH of the acid rain solution, a mineral in the rock has reacted with
the Acid rain solution to “buffer” the acid; like an antacid buffers the acid of your
stomach. This causes the pH of the acid rain solution to change. So, if the pH changed,
then the rock reacted with the acid rain, which means the rock is breaking down,
crumbling.
