How my heart is filled with love for my kinsman Macbeth and for my valiant general Banquo. I am so proud that I have inspired such valor and loyalty in my subjects. Many have said that I have been too kind and generous with the thanes that fall under my rule. However, I can now point to these hearty warrior’s deeds of courage and loyalty, and I can say that it is because I have been kind and munificent that these men have fought so heartily to keep my seat upon the throne. My greatest accomplishment is that I have kept Scotland whole. I warded off the treachery of Cawdor and Norway. King Duncan will be remembered for not the many battles that were fought in this reign, but for my ability to keep my country whole. I attribute this to my temperate nature and the love that this has inspired in the thanes that serve me. I only hope that in the future I will be able to continue my reign without any further shedding of blood. For now, I rest easy in the home of the brave and noble Macbeth. You are going to create a journal with three entries for one character from Macbeth. You may choose Macbeth, Banquo, or Lady Macbeth. Use the questions on the attached sheet to create these entries. Your entries must be supported by textual evidence from the play. 2 3 Choose a character: _________________________________________ Write a seven to ten-sentence entry for the character’s point of view from the start of the play.
