Leadership Essay of Argument
Directions: Compose a multi-paragraph essay of argument that responds to the prompt below.
Essay Prompt:
Since reading Macbeth and a multitude of articles about leadership, you have defined
what it means to be a leader and what qualities a leader demonstrates. As a result of
researching these viewed perspectives of leadership, you must choose a candidate who is
running for the Presidential Office and argue why this person fulfills the definition of a
leader. Write an essay which argues that the individual that you chose is a true leader
and should therefore be the next president of the united states.
Explanation:
Your essay should identify three to five qualities that your leader exhibits and the specific
examples of actions that demonstrate those qualities. Your essay should also contain
counterclaims and replies to the counter claims.
Requirements:
 An introduction utilizes one of the attention grabbing strategies that we have
learned this year. A definition of leadership is also included.
 A thesis statement introduces your claim in a three-part, parallel statement that
distinguishes the claim from counterclaims.
 Body paragraphs include topic sentences which identify the quality (claim) that the
paragraph will develop supported by researched evidence and an explanation of how
or why that support illustrates that claim. Body paragraphs contain a counterclaim
and a reply to the counterclaim
 A strong conclusion-reimagines the claim, summarizes and supports the claims, and
calls the reader to action to support your chosen individual is a leader.
 The essay will follow the MLA Style Manual.
 All in-text citations will follow the MLA Style Manual format.
 The essay will include a Works Cited Page.
 Essay should contain citations from three to five different resources.
