POOOR BEHAVIOR ESSAY Due to the inappropriate behavior of THIS CLASS on a regular basis, you must copy this essay to help you understand what kind of behavior is expected of you when in class. You may print or use cursive, but you must write the letter by hand. Your copy must be neat and legible, and signed by your parent and yourself! We all need a little respect from others and to give it in return. When we do not get the regard that we deserve, It is a daily struggle in our lives, one which it is hard to let a single day pass sometimes without dealing with in some form, however minor. People who are rude, noisy, or vulgar significantly diminish morale. The classroom is no exception. Rudeness is a display of disrespect by not complying with the social "laws" or etiquette of a group or culture. These laws have been established as the essential boundaries of normally accepted behavior. To be unable or unwilling to align your behavior with these laws known to the general population of what is socially acceptable is to be rude. Loudmouthed students can create fear and anxiety among other students and distract them from their schoolwork. Offenses, such as repeatedly leaving the classroom without permission, making loud noises, or roaming the classroom are all distractions. Playing around during lectures and using the computer inappropriately at any time is not only rude but wastes my time and distracts others. At all times, students are trusted to be good citizens. The teacher’s trust is an important asset that provides us all with benefits and a good working atmosphere. The respectful and productive student demonstrates work ready skills that will serve me well for a lifetime. Breaking the teacher’s trust by disrespectful, destructive, demeaning, and/or nonproductive behavior demonstrates just the opposite and shows a lack of personal integrity and maturity. It brings shame on the individual student and the class as a whole. Regrettably, there is no shortage of rudeness in our classroom. When you are disruptive, disrespectful or unwilling to work, you hurt yourself and your fellow students. Trying to work in a place that is noisy and distracting is very difficult. It is hard to concentrate and hard to get work done. Whether it is just a few or a large portion of the class, the distractions can keep people from getting good grades. It also adds to people’s stress level and can cause serious health issues for some. Your right to be noisy and rude ends where another person’s right to a quiet and productive workplace begins. We work in a community of people, not in isolation. To think that one individual is so important that everyone else has to put up with bad behavior and a stressful workplace because of that individual is extremely egotistical and badmannered. A great deal of research has been done showing the negative effects of disrespectful behavior in the workplace, and the results are quite conclusive, says Dr. Jennifer A. Bunk, an assistant professor of psychology. “People don’t like working in a negative climate,” Bunk said. If you are not working, your grade is suffering. Even if the subject matter is not your favorite, it affects your overall grade point average, or GPA. Your GPA affects things like the ability to get a driver’s license, costs of car insurance, the ability to get jobs, and the ability to get into post-high school training programs. A bad start in high school can take a long time to overcome and cost a great deal of lost income. Students sometimes think it is funny to be mean to the other students or the teacher or to leave a mess and even damage things in the classroom. This is rude and unacceptable behavior. Students in a classroom have been given a valuable trust by the teacher. Everyone deserves to be treated respectfully, and everyone is responsible for respectful behavior, no matter who is in the classroom. We are also responsible for our own learning time. A good way to act in class would be to sit quietly and do what the teacher asks of me. It is also expected that I will behave respectfully in our environment with the tools and supplies for the course used correctly, leaving a clean area for the next student. Respect is mandatory and common courtesy is the key to success in the classroom at all times.
