Dear Applicant,

Cummins Diversity Scholarship. Attached you will find information about the Cummins Diversity
Scholarship Program, along with the required application. Provided you meet the scholarship criteria,
we hope you will take time to apply for this wonderful opportunity. To aid in your decision, here are
some common questions and answers. We look forward to receiving your application.
Kind Regards,
Cummins Inc. Recruiting
Q: This seems early… why is the application due in November?
A: It is never too early to begin looking for possible summer employment opportunities. Cummins
has set the application deadline to occur before your final exams. Since school is your first
priority, we want to work within your schedule. The November date allows time for you to focus
on your studies and allows Cummins time to thoroughly review applications and make selections
in a reasonable timeframe.
Q: I never receive these things, why should waste my time in applying?
A: Never say never! It is difficult to predict if you will be a recipient of the Cummins Diversity
Scholarship. The application process is simple and requires only one thoughtful essay along with
your completed application, your most recent resume, and your most recent transcript. Even if
you do not receive one of the scholarships, your resume goes on file with Cummins for other
potential internship opportunities.
Q: If I applied last year but did not receive a scholarship, is it recommended to apply again?
A: Yes, not only have you enhanced your qualifications by completing another year of school, you
will also be compared to a new group of students. The applicant pool is different ever year, so this
might just be your year!
Q: What should I do if I do not qualify for the scholarship, but am interested in an internship
with Cummins?
A: Cummins does offer internship opportunities outside of the Cummins Diversity Scholarship
Program. If you do not meet the scholarship qualifications but are interested in a possible
internship, you should submit your resume on-line through the employment page on the Cummins
website at www.cummins.com Once you submit your resume on-line, it will be routed to our
Human Resources department and you will be considered in our summer internship placement
process.
